Red, White & Blue Party Ideas for 4th of July
Celebrate Independence Day with a Red White & Blue Party at home! Get ideas for food and drinks, plus 4th of July decorations.
Bring the traditional color scheme to your 4th of July party ideas, and serve color coordinated food and drinks, as well as decorations and fun for the whole family. Party in style with a welcome bar, holiday table setting, and food ideas that instantly get your guests in the mood to celebrate!
You don’t have to spend money on holiday themed supplies when you can use red, white, and blue items you may already have, or ones you can buy and use over and over again for other celebrations.

Decorate With Red, White, and Blue
Set up a red, white and blue 4th of July Tablescape and incorporate these table decorations.
- Red melamine dinner plates
- Blue and white melamine dessert or salad plates
- White mini colanders filled with red strawberries, raspberries, or cherries.
- A box of sparklers for each guest; search local listings for where to buy these.
- Blue and white napkins (tea towels from IKEA) and table runner
- Clear acrylic water glasses
- Blue vintage wine or tea glasses
- White vase with blue hydrangeas + red berry stems, or pots of red geraniums.

If you need to accompany overflow seating, pull up a garden stool at the dinner table. Bring in the color theme with throws or pillows.

Set Up A Welcome Bar
Welcome your guests with a cocktail and snacks bar. Use a gardening table, a folding table, or bring an indoor console table outside.
Use a few themed items you have on hand for decor, like wood signs and mini flags. But also use red, white, and blue items that are not July 4th themed, such as striped napkins, trays, flowers, or glassware.

A printed copy of the Constitution is a fantastic element to display.

Red, white & blue potato chips in individual food cones or snack cups are delicious and easy to walk around with.

A blue cocktail is our signature drink, with red maraschino cherry garnish. Sliced star fruit would also be great if you can find it.

Serve Themed Party Food
There’s no better choice for the 4th of July menu than good old fashioned burgers or hot dogs. Add on some classic side dishes and delicious desserts and you’ve got yourself a party.

Make my favorite juicy burgers recipe for a crowd and top with blue cheese to stay with the theme. If not, you can simply top it with cheddar or American slices.
You may also go all out with a hot dog bar and let guests top their own.

This is the best classic potato salad recipe. Use red, white & blue potatoes for a themed party.

Red and blue fruit like sliced watermelon, and fresh berries make a great snack, side dish, or dessert to add to the food table.

Individual ice cream cups are perfectly sized for the kids. And they bring back a bit of nostalgia for the adults.

This red, white & blue trifle feeds a crowd and is guaranteed a winner for 4th of July dessert.

Make these red and white strawberry angel food desserts in individual bowls or in one large trifle dish.

Set up a red, white, and blue ice cream floats bar for another fun interactive dessert idea.
I hope these red, white, and blue party ideas inspire you to celebrate the 4th of July at home with family or friends.
