Red White & Blue Party Ideas for 4th of July
Celebrate Independence Day with a Red White & Blue Party theme at home! Get ideas for a 4th of July party outside, including food and drink recipes, plus 4th of July decoration ideas.
Red, White & Blue Party Ideas
When it comes to summer entertaining it doesn’t get much better than a patriotic red, white & blue party to celebrate freedom.
Bring in the classic color theme to apply 4th of July party ideas to. Serve color coordinated food and drinks, and create fun for adults or for the whole family!
This party decor is more grownup than traditional kitschy items from the party store. You don’t have to spend money on single themed supplies when you can use red white and blue items you may already have.
Plus, you can use the color themed pieces again and again for other parties.
I’ll show you how to party in style with a Welcome bar, holiday table setting, and food ideas. This will instantly get your guests in the mood to celebrate!
Red White & Blue Decorations
Set up a red, white and blue 4th of July Tablescape and incorporate these table decorations.
- Red melamine dinner plates
- Blue & white melamine dessert or salad plates
- White mini colanders filled with red strawberries, raspberries, or cherries.
- A box of sparklers for each guest {search local listings for where to buy these}
- Blue & white napkins {tea towels from IKEA} and table runner
- Clear plastic water glasses
- Blue vintage wine or tea glasses
- White vase with blue hydrangeas + red berry stems
PARTY TIP: If you need to accompany overflow seating, pull up a garden stool at the dinner table.
Set up a Party Bar
Welcome your guests with a cocktail and snacks bar. Use whatever themed items you have on hand for decor.
Things like wood signs, mini flags, printed copy of the Constitution (from Cracker Barrel) are all great. But don’t forget to use red, white, and blue items that are not July 4th themed. They work perfectly here.
Red, white & blue potato chips in individual cones or snack cups are delicious and easy to walk around with.
A blue cocktail is our signature drink, with red maraschino cherry garnish. Sliced star fruit would also be great if you can find it.

Red White and Blue Party Food
There’s no better choice for the 4th of July menu than good old fashioned burgers. Add on some classic side dishes and delicious desserts and you’ve got yourself a party.
PARTY TIP: Red fruit like sliced water melon, and fresh berries make a great snack, side dish, or dessert to add to the food table.
Make my favorite juicy burgers recipe and top with blue cheese if desired.
This is the best classic potato salad recipe. Use red, white & blue potatoes for a themed party.
Individual ice cream cups are perfectly sized for the kids. And they bring back a bit of nostalgia for the adults.
PARTY TIP: Keep ice cream cups on ice in a bucket inside the freezer until ready to serve.
This red, white & blue trifle feeds a crowd and is guaranteed a winner for 4th of July dessert.
Make these red and white strawberry angel food desserts in individual bowls or in one large trifle dish.
Set up a red, white, and blue ice cream floats bar for another fun interactive dessert idea.
