Today we’re talking Italian! And I’ve created this delicious tiramisu chocolate trifle dessert recipe for entertaining. If you’ve never been to Italy I would encourage you to put it on your bucket list! This layered dessert puts a twist on the Italian classic and are great for an Italian themed dinner party or girls night.
My husband and I had the chance to go to Rome before we had kids, and it’s an amazing place. The food, the wine, the sites…. it’s living! Then we had the chance to revisit Italy with our kids as we spent 5 days in Florence last summer. While there we indulged in tiramisu for dessert, and it was heavenly.
Tiramisu is a classic Italian dessert, but I wanted to put a new spin on it. Since chocolate pretty much makes EVERYTHING even better, I decided to go with that. Tiramisu Chocolate Trifle Recipe
Put a new twist on a classic Italian dessert with this tiramisu chocolate trifle. Layers of cookies and and cream blend together for a delicious sweet dessert for entertaining.
Ingredients
- 1 package Lady Fingers
- 3/4 cup coffee, cooled
- 1/4 cup flavored creamer {I used Hazelnut flavor}
- 1 box Tiramisu mix
- 1 cup milk
- Dark Chocolate-chocolate chip “ready to bake” refrigerator cookie dough
Chocolate Mousse Layer
- 1 package chocolate mousse mix
- 1 cup milk
- 2 Tablespoons instant coffee
- Whipped Cream
Instructions
- Combine cooled coffee with the flavored creamer.
- Lay lady fingers in a single layer inside a shallow dish and pour prepared coffee/creamer mixture over top. Allow lady fingers to absorb moisture.
- Prepare Tiramisu mix with 1 cup milk, according to package directions.
- Place soaked lady fingers inside glass dish, and top with a layer of Tiramisu cream mixture.
- Bake cookies as directed. Once cool, lay a cookie on top of the Tiramisu cream layer. Break up cookie in order to fit it into dish, if needed.
- Add another layer of cream and top with another cookie.
- Prepare chocolate mousse with 1 cup milk PLUS the instant coffee, according to package directions. Add a layer of mousse on top of cookie, and chill until ready to serve.
- Top with whipped cream and cocoa powder {included in Tiramisu mix box} and enjoy!
