Party Themes For Fall Gatherings
These party themes for fall gatherings are perfect for cooler weather and take you from September through November. I’ve included adult options as well as some kid-friendly ones. Grab these ideas for activity themes, interactive food themes, and recipes to pull it off without a hitch.
Summer cookouts are great, but I love when it starts getting cooler and we can entertain in other ways. In most parts of the country it’s temperate enough to be outside around a fire pit for a hot dog roast, or you can take it indoors for a cozy themed dinner party.
Here are some of my favorite Fall party themes. Some are based on food while others are based on an activity. There are kid friendly options as well as adult themes.
Casual Grownup Themes
I’m a big believer that grownups (parents) need to have time to enjoy themselves without having to edit their language or topics around the children. These parties typically include wine, beer, cocktails, and the food may not be as kid friendly. Lets embrace our adulthood with a night of fun just for us.
You can incorporate any of these ideas into birthday themes for adults. Several are great for game day parties too.
Quick Tip
When you plan a party around the food it gives you focus and the guests know what to expect right away. And build-your-own stations get them involved and interactive.
Chili party – fall and winter are chili season so make this your first invitation of fall. Set up the buffet with lots of fixings and choices to satisfy all your guests.
Soup party – set up the soup bar as a buffet, or prepare a lovely table and host a soup dinner party.
Chocolate and wine party – this is pure indulgence and works well as a dessert party or turn it into a ladies night chocolate tasting party.
Wine and cheese party – cozy adults-only party with two of my favorite food groups: wine and cheese.
Family Friendly Themes
Pizza party – nothing is more classic than a make-your-own pizzas station. You also have the option of preparing a variety of pizzas to serve your guests, or a grownup pizza and beer party.
Fall supper and a movie – serve up some easy food items and watch a beloved movies that resonates with various ages. If it’s nice outdoors, set up a large projection system with lounge chairs and picnic style blankets and pillows.
Game night – a multitude of options from classic board games, to card games, to Bunco, to Mahjong.
Pumpkin carving party – family friendly, outside, fun with neighbors.
You don’t have to let the grown ups have all the fun. Host a make-your-own mini dump cakes party for the kids. I swear they will LOVE it!

Love all the party ideas. Awesome. Hey Chris. I have a dilemma. I am having a baby shower for my daughter. It her 2nd baby. Its a football/shower party the end of November. I was just wondering how I should decorate. I dont know if I should put a lot of baby decorations around or not. The babt theme is also sports. Not sure what to do.
