How To Make Paper Cones for Food
These DIY snack paper cones are great for serving chips or popcorn at a party. Use any color or theme to match your occasion, and follow my simple instructions. Plus I’m sharing my cute and easy method to display them at parties.

If you love getting crafty and making simple projects to bring your party theme to life, these paper food cones are for you! Fill them with your favorite trail mix or savory Chex mix, nuts or sweet & spicy pecans, potato chips, popcorn, or any crunchy snacks.Â
These are ideal for children’s parties, but they’re also right at home for adult gatherings like sports themes and bridal or baby showers. Use a floral print or baby themed paper, or a color coordinated paper for these occasions.
Supplies
- Themed scrapbook paper – these typically come in 12×12-inch squares and you can get 4 cones per sheet.
- Small salad or dessert plate – used to trace your half circles.
- Pen or pencil
- Scissors
- Stapler
- Tape
- 6-inch wooden skewers
*White masking tape is also needed for these specific football themed cones.

How To Make It
- Use the plate to trace 4 half circles onto the scrapbook paper. These are about 4¼ inches at the widest point from the edge of the paper.

- Cut the half circles out and bring the 2 end points up and overlapping to create a cone shape. Keep an opening at the bottom just big enough for the wood skewer to slide through. Secure with a staple for the best stability.
- Pull a skewer through the small opening at the bottom of the cone, and attach it to the inside of the cone using tape. Make sure the pointy end of the skewer is on the outside so it can poke through the box display below.

- Using the white craft or masking tape, cut thin strips to mimic football stitching and attach them to the front side of the cones.

How To Display The Cones
Once you have your cones made, it’s time to display them.
- Wrap a box or craft foam blocks with coordinating wrapping paper or brown kraft paper.
- Insert the skewer sticks into the box or foam in a uniform pattern or rows.
- Fill the cones with chips, popcorn, snack mix, or small candies.
As an alternative, you can simple pile the cones together and let guests take one and fill it up on their own.
Party Tip
For a game day party use football paper like I used here; it’s perfect for a Super Bowl party. Hang a DIY pennant banner, and place the cone display on a football themed popcorn bar to carry out the game day theme.

Thanks Bird! xoxo
Using a stick on those cone snack cups is so smart! I usually put my cone cups in those spiraled ice cream cone holders.
Those spirals are so cute too. This way folks can still display them even if they don’t have those holders 😉
