Decorating an Easter Table
How fun is it to decorate an Easter tablescape with spring colors and accents! Setting the table and hosting Easter brunch is such a lovely tradition on Sunday morning, and this compilation of ideas will inspire your creativity.
Whether you’re serving a brunch menu or an Easter dinner, you’ll find place settings, centerpiece ideas, and festive details to welcome your guests. Some are whimsical, some are nature inspired, and some are just simply beautiful.
Choose A Theme
Yes, Easter is the overall subject, but when you follow a theme within a theme, it makes it so much easier to focus and coordinate everything for a cohesive look.
Do you want to go the traditional route with Easter motifs like bunnies, pastel colors, and lots of Easter eggs? Purchase a set of themed salad plates that can take your everyday white dishes into the holiday table.
Is a rustic vibe more your style with burlap, moss, and lots of greenery? Lay moss runners on a farmhouse table to let the wood show through. Decorate with wicker chargers, birds nests, and simple dishes.
If simple elegance is more your style, simply choose your dishes and table linens in a pretty color, and set the table with tulips in the center.
Set a nature-inspired table outside to blend in with the spring garden. Green moss runner, birds nests, butterflies, rattan chargers, and vintage china create a lovely Easter table.
Choose Your Colors
Once you have a theme it’s easy to pick a color scheme. It will support the theme you’ve chosen and help carry it out further.
Do you want to follow a classic color combination of pink, yellow, and green? Set a beautiful pastel Easter tablescape by incorporating the colors in flowers, layered dishes, vintage glassware, table linens and napkins.
Decorate an elegant Easter tablescape with a pretty pink and green combo. This one has charm, sophistication, and whimsy all in one!
Do you want something less traditional? Try blue and white and green. Blue Willow china is traditional and perfect for family gatherings. Bring it into a modern setting with layers of green salad plates, rattan chargers, bamboo-look utensils, colorful glasses, and white accents.
For a different take, pair blue and white with purple! It feels very much like spring flowers. Simple incorporate violet in glassware and a table linen.
Place Setting Ideas
Whether you want to assign seats with place cards or simply add a decorative touch to each plate, these are some easy ideas you can do.
Use Easter eggs as name cards. Write guests’ names directly on the eggs with markers, or go the extra step with printed ribbon or paper name tags tucked into a rubber band.
Use a bird’s nest to hold name cards. Bird nests are one of my favorite elements for spring and Easter decorating!
Use egg cups to hold small tokens like grass and chocolate bunny candy. Use glass markers to write directly onto the porcelain to act as a place card.
Fill a pretty dish, bowl or basket with colorful Easter eggs and put it on each place setting. Add a single flower stem to accent the dish.
Tie a decorative Easter tag or name card around an egg cup using bakers twine or thin ribbon. Accent with a butterfly from the craft store attached with glue dots.
Centerpiece Ideas
Flowers are the quintessential Easter table centerpiece. You can start with seasonal flowers like tulips, daisies, daffodils, hyacinths, hydrangeas, carnations, baby’s breath, and mums. Here are some ideas to inspire your floral arrangements.
Design a show-stopper centerpiece with one large arrangement. Use an oversize vase or flower box and fill it to the brim with flowers. Here, I used blue and white varieties of hydrangeas, mums, carnations, and baby’s breath.
Use water-soaked floral foam to keep everything secure inside.
Create several smaller floral arrangements in pretty vessels that you can cluster together or line down the center of the table. I used pretty mini pitchers here, but you can also use clear glass vases, white or pastel vases, or colorful bottles.
Serve the meal family style on a green moss runners. Move flowers to the end of the table, or forego them altogether. Food is the center of attention after all!
Want to add height without a large flower arrangement? Try a glass cloche. Use it to cover a nest or smaller potted plant. Place it on a cake pedestal for more distinction.
Nothing says spring quite like tulips. They’re quite lovely when they droop over the side of the vase, and there’s a myriad of styles and colors to choose from.
You can also try your hand at a festive display of vegetables and fruit. Incorporate seasonal items like carrots, cabbage, and asparagus.
Easter Table Decorations
Use home decor pieces to extend your centerpiece outward along the table. Spring accents can help create a full, luxe look on the tablescape.
Adding Easter eggs to the table is a natural instinct. Place them in any vessel that fits into your theme such as baskets, compotes, bowls, silver urns, platters, nests, etc.
Scatter a few themed figurines down the center of the table. They can add such charm and whimsy. It’s easy to find rabbits, birds, and nests this time of year.
Bird’s nests make a gorgeous centerpiece element. Fill them with natural looking faux eggs for a nature-inspired or rustic theme. For a touch of elegance, place it on a silver tray or dish.
Grab carboard egg cartons and fill them with decorative eggs, or with adorable egg planters filled with flowers.
Table Party Favors
I love getting creative with party favors. They can add just the right finishing touch to your Easter table setting. They don’t have to cost a lot to be appreciated either!
Seed packs look so pretty with their artistic packaging. Place a packet at each place setting for guests.
If you’re serving brunch, these mini jars of jelly or honey are the perfect take home favor for your guests.
Double up the party favors and the place cards with cute candy holder tubes or similar containers. Tie on a name card for each guest.
Tablecloth
Add color, texture, or a theme with a tablecloth or runner.
- Floral tablecloth is decidedly spring themed.
- Simple buffalo checks are a great neutral base for a tablecloth.
- A whimsical Easter themed table linen with bunny motif is a fun addition.
- A burlap runner or table covering adds a rustic, natural element to the table.
DIY Decor
Get creative and add some custom decorations to the table.
- Make bunny ear folded napkins.

- Paint or dye your own eggs and display them in a pretty basket.
Add Heirlooms
Most holidays are all about family, and Easter is no different. Add some family pieces, vintage items, or simply shop the thrift stores.
If you collect specific dish patterns or have some that’s been passed down from your mom or grandmother, use that as your starting point to setting the table. This Easter table with Hadley Pottery is a tradition among many families.
Decorate with Food
Add some additional adornments to the buffet table with these edible decorations.
Make an Easter dessert charcuterie platter the center of attention.
Make this Easter garden pudding cake your dessert centerpiece.
Small dishes filled with chocolate eggs, or other wrapped chocolates and candies.
