ST. PATRICK’S DAY COCKTAIL :: GREEN LEPRECHAUN

St Patrick's day cocktail #cocktail

How do you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day?  Do you celebrate it?  From what little I know about my family’s heritage, I do have some Irish blood.  Not surprising given my penchant for parties *wink*. But if you don’t, don’t let it stop you from celebrating – after all, you still love to celebrate Cinco de Mayo don’t you?!

If you’re not a green beer kind of person then I have just the right cocktail to help you sip in style for this green themed day.  It all starts with the green tinted melon liqueur, Midori.  Give the drink a fun name like the Green Leprechaun and set it among gold coins in a gold tray for a presentation that’s suited to the occasion {more on that at the bottom}.

As always, think about serving this green drink for other occasions too, like Christmas or Halloween. Just change the name to reflect the holiday.

Green Leprechaun Cocktail

  • 1 oz Midori melon liqueur
  • 1 oz Pineapple flavored vodka
  • 3 oz Sprite

Combine over ice and strain into martini glass.

TIP:  Garnish with a sprinkling of gold edible glitter so it looks like little flecks of gold inside.

  • Presentation can take this cocktail to the next level.  As I mentioned above, you can set a row of these drinks on a gold tray and surround them with gold coins.  This becomes the “pot of gold” at the end of the rainbow.
  • Make a “rainbow” backdrop by looping ribbon around a wooden dowel and hanging it behind the table.
  • Take it all a step further by placing turf grass {get it cut to size at Lowes} as the base.

No doubt this will have guests feeling like they have the luck o’ the Irish!
