Kids Christmas table setting ideas

Styling kids tables is a great way to get creative in a way we don’t normally get to do as adults. This colorful Thanksgiving kids table was a blast to create, and so was today’s Christmas party table.

Doing this can bring back fond childhood memories, as well as make memories for the kids in our lives.ย These ideas are easy to re-create and I hope you’ll be inspired to set a party tablescape for your young children.

Start with traditional red and green colors and use festive printables, activities, and decorations for place settings and a Christmas centerpiece that even the kids will love.

Using the traditional Christmas printable party collection from Love The Day I set the table with mix & match name cards, tags, and notes to Santa. These set the tone for a classic color scheme paired with modern patterns and whimsical details.

If you love this classic look then you’re going to adore theseย family Christmas party ideasย set around a dessert table. The setting is also done in traditional red and green so it all coordinates beautifully.

Top tips

No need to go over the top: Kids donโ€™t need an elaborate centerpiece, but they do appreciate something cute and appropriate. DIY candy Christmas trees do the trick nicely. And a small bud vase with red carnations add just a touch of sophistication.

Keep them entertained: Add a jar of crayons and plenty of paper and Christmas printables so everyone has fun, and the grown-ups aren’t constantly having to come up with activities.

How to decorate

  • One of my favorite tips for entertaining is to buy small salad or dessert plates in various colors that can be used for multiple occasions. This way you can layer them with your everyday WHITE dishes (my favorite staple item) when setting a table.
  • Layers and color add interest to a table setting. These red & white striped plates can be used for Christmas, Valentineโ€™s Day, 4th of July, and more! And because theyโ€™re melamine theyโ€™re durable and great for childrenโ€™s tables. A regular sized plate makes a great โ€œchargerโ€ underneath.

Top each plate with a โ€œWish Listโ€ and pencil clipped together with colorful office clips.

Make it fun: To balance out the table and add one more fun element I filled a vase with tiny red candies so the kids could โ€œguess how manyโ€ are inside. No matter the age this activity never gets old! They can even count them out at the end to keep them busy.
