Kids Christmas Table

I’m excited to share the kids Christmas table I styled for the magazine shoot with Yum Food & Fun for Kids. Using the printable party collection from Love The Day I set the table with mix n match name cards, tags for the “napkin rings”, and last minute notes to Santa. Photographer Laura Gordon captured all the details…

  • One of my favorite “tips” is to buy small melamine plates in various colors that you can use for multiple occasions. This way you can layer them on top of your everyday WHITE dishes {my favorite staple item} when setting the table, and add layers of color and interest. I found these red & white striped plates from HomeGoods on sale and thought they would be a great addition to my collection since they can be used for Christmas, Valentine’s Day, 4th of July, and other occasions. And because they’re melamine they’re super durable. Since this is a kids table, a regular sized plate makes a great “charger” underneath.
  • Each plate is topped by a “Wish List” and pencil clipped together with colorful office clips. The napkin rings are candy cane circles with a tag added for extra detail.
  • Finally, each child gets their own magical snowman milk bottle complete with donut hole topper…always a hit!

  • Kids don’t need an elaborate centerpiece, but they do appreciate something cute and appropriate. DIY candy cone Christmas trees do the trick nicely, and a small bud vase with red carnations add just a touch of sophistication.
  • To balance out the table and add one more fun element I filled a vase with tiny red candies so the kids could “guess how many” are inside. My kids are 9 and 10 and this activity never gets old! They can even count them out at the end {to keep them busy *wink*}.

As I mentioned in my previous post about the shoot, most of these ideas were taken from the Kids Candy Coated Christmas party we hosted last year. Just goes to show you can change up a few details and get a whole new look!
