Coffee Eggnog punch

I love eggnog and this is one holiday tradition that I have no desire to make from scratch. I’m perfectly happy to buy it already prepared in the refrigerator carton!

Store bought eggnog is a quick starting point for making my Easiest eggnog punch recipe or this coffee eggnog punch. It gets a kick from the addition of instant coffee and other flavors for the perfect holiday drink.

This is a wonderful addition to a holiday bagel breakfast bar. Set it up for your overnight guests and let them serve themselves.

Since there’s a small amount of coffee in it, it’s a great way to start your day or to serve at an afternoon cookie exchange party.

PARTY TIP: Use decaff coffee granules if you’re worried about caffeine intake.

Make this with or without alcohol

It’s easy to entertain your way with recipes that let you add or omit alcohol. For this punch you can add it in or serve it without. You can provide a batch of the basic recipe and let guests add a shot of alcohol into their own glass too.

If you like eggnog I think you’ll really enjoy this drink for Christmas entertaining. Top it with some homemade whipped cream or Cool Whip topping and you are all set for a festive time!

Yield: about 12 servings

This coffee eggnog punch is delicious for holiday entertaining! Make it ahead for overnight guests to enjoy in the morning, or serve at a cookie exchange party. Make it with or without alcohol too.

Ingredients

  • 2 quarts refrigerated eggnog (I like to use the low fat variety)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons instant coffee granules
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Garnish: Cool Whip topping

FOR ALCOHOL VERSION

  • 1/4 cup Kahlua
  • 1/2 cup bourbon

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients except garnish in a blender, or in a large bowl using a mixer on low speed, to help dissolve coffee granules.
  2. Refrigerate for a at least 2 hours. Coffee granules will continue to dissolve so stir mix before serving.
  3. Pour punch into a punch bowl or pitcher to serve.
  4. Add alcohol to mix if desired.
  5. Top with a dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle of cinnamon.
