Fresh Green Beans In The Crock Pot (No Meat)
Serve a homestyle dinner or holiday meal with these easy crockpot green beans on the menu. This recipe is no-fuss, allowing the slow cooker to do all the work so you can tend to other tasks. There’s no meat added so it appeals to vegetarians too.

This side dish starts with fresh green beans, but you could use frozen in a pinch. There’s no pre-mixing as the lemon-butter sauce is created while cooking, and only takes about 2 hours till they’re done. That leaves your stovetop and oven available for other dishes you may need to prepare for your dinner party menu.
Serve these straight from the slow cooker, or transfer to a pretty serving bowl. For meat lovers, add some cooked and crumbled bacon on top for a delicious finishing touch, or sprinkle with chopped pecans or walnuts for texture.

Helpful Tips
For the quickest and easiest preparation, purchase 1-pound bags of fresh green beans that are already clean and trimmed, in the produce section.
Make a double batch for larger gatherings and simply double the ingredients. You may need to add 30 minutes to the cooking time.
These only take a couple of hours to cook tender. You definitely want to stir them after an hour so you can coat the beans with the melted butter sauce. If you want the beans even softer, just add 30 more minutes of cooking time.
Add small or new potatoes in with the beans if you need to add something starchy to your menu. Slice them in half or quarters depending on their size. You may want to increase the seasonings by 50% to coat the potatoes.

3 Simple Steps
- Add the beans to the crock.
- Pour in lemon juice and dry seasonings.
- Put slices of butter on top and cook.
You’ll stir it halfway through to coat and mix everything together.
What To Serve Them With
I love using this hands-off recipe for an easy side dish with chicken, ham, beef, or fish. It’s fantastic for a Southern style dinner party along with easy mayo macaroni and cheese, or for holidays like Easter or Friendsgiving with creamed corn casserole.
Since this cooks on the countertop, it frees up the oven for roasting turkey or cooking a beef roast. Use the stovetop to cook glazed carrots or wild rice vegetable pilaf for a well-rounded menu.
