Rice Krispies treats for school

With a new school year upon us, you may be thinking about bake sales, tokens of appreciation for teachers, nervous children on their first day, etc. To help with all that I came up with this easy school treat idea that’s super cute and of course, delicious!

When it comes to the duties of being a mom to young children, the last thing you want to be doing is making things from scratch. You still want to make things special though. That’s where these customized rice krispies snack treats come in.

I was sent a box filled with decorating tools like cupcake frosting, cookie icing, writing icing, sprinkles, gel, etc. and was asked to create a treat idea that mothers can easily do themselves. Well, I’m all about easy around here, and I have 2 little ‘guinea pigs’ of my own to test out the creations so I was happy to get to work.

Easy School treats

  • I had a couple of ideas: 1) ‘write’ sweet notes on cookies so kids see it when they open their lunch box; and 2) help the kids keep up with the days of the week by ‘writing’ them on a rice krispy treat.
  • For each idea I used either sugar cookies {slice & bake}, or rice krispies treat rectangles as the base. I covered them in cookie icing which is sort of runny and spreads to fill in the space, and also dries hard so you can wrap or stack them.
  • I used coordinating writing icing to spell out the words. This also dries hard for storage and stackability.
  • With the days of the week treats you can let your child pick out the treat in the morning and put it in his lunch box or back pack.

These are just some fun ideas to help make those school days a little more exciting to look forward to!

Cheers!
