Black & White Celebration Tablescape
A black & white celebration table for hosting special occasions like birthdays or graduation parties. This design is simple but festive with black and white stripes, touches of gold, and colorful floral arrangements to pop against the neutral base.

When it comes to stylish entertaining and party decorations it doesn’t get more chic than classic black and white. It instantly implies elegance, and this tablescape is perfect for all those important moments from anniversaries and engagement parties, to birthdays and graduations.
Key Elements

Tablescape Ideas
Black and white is always welcome when doing more dressed up dinner parties. Use a black tablecloth as the base layer and add a black and white striped runner on top. It will give the table a modern yet timeless look.
You can use fabric right off the bolt or a paper runner.

Layer black dinner plates and white salad plates for the place settings, or alternate them as you like.
Incorporate gold details and accents throughout the table setting.

Fun cups say it all with their “Celebrate” inscription written in gold. Gold straws finish the look.

Centerpiece
Gorgeous floral blooms bring in just enough color to pop off the black backdrop. Brushed gold containers coordinate with the other gold pieces.

A laser cut cake topper adds to the look and helps make a simple cake the centerpiece of the table. The same flowers used in the vases top the cake and eliminate the need for expensive cake decorating.

Use more gold in the place settings with flatware, napkins, and horn blowers that reiterate the “celebration” theme.

Add black balloon displays to the space to highlight special tables or the perimeter of the party area. Set up a table for guests to write sweet notes to the guest of honor.
Hostess Tips
Reuse! You’ll find many of my tables use the same elements over and over again. However, the context is always different so the items never look the same. Here I used the stripe table runner from the ladies night at home party, and 30 minute dinner party. but with everything else different, it looks fresh.
Use my alternating trick with dishes like I described in my blue and white Thanksgiving table. It’s a great hack to make things go further. Invest in those white basic plates and you can always alternate with other colors and patterns!
Choose a few items that speak to you, or that will refresh your existing space. You can dress up a neutral table by adding gold or copper, and colorful flowers. I think you’ll love the look.

Food
Try to incorporate black and white food if you can. It will help carry the theme throughout.
For an entree, filet mignon in balsamic-red wine reduction is fancy and delicious! But don’t worry, it’s easy to make.
You could also serve black and white pasta with alfredo sauce. You can typically find the pasta in gourmet food sections at Home Goods or grocery stores.
For a side dish focus on white foods such as potatoes, cauliflower, or rice. You can also bring in the colors of the flowers. In this case I would serve roasted carrots to coordinate with the peach tones.
For the starter salad I would go with a fig and mixed greens salad or spinach and orzo salad.
Finally, for dessert you can serve the pretty layer cake with white or chocolate frosting, or layered black and white parfaits.
I hope you find these tips for a black and white celebration useful. You can set up a stylish table for an intimate dinner party with family and friends without spending a fortune, and by investing in a few eye-catching pieces.
