Easy Eggnog Punch

Easy Eggnog Punch is creamy and decadent for the holidays. This recipe starts with a carton of eggnog and gets dressed up for Christmas parties and seasonal entertaining.

This Christmas drink tastes like a boozy eggnog milkshake and is so delicious! Whipped topping adds creaminess while ice cream keeps it nice and chilled.

I first had this over 20 years ago at my boss’ Christmas cocktail party, and I couldn’t get enough! I was surprised to hear how simple it was to prepare.

It starts with store-bought eggnog. No apologies because the holidays are a busy time and you don’t have to make everything from scratch. It’s not about what you start with, it’s about what you end up with!

Pair it with Christmas appetizers or dessert, or serve it for Christmas brunch. It’s perfect for a Christmas cookie exchange too.

Ingredients

  • Refrigerated eggnog. Use your favorite brand. I like to get the “light” or low fat variety if I can. It feels less guilty!
  • Vanilla ice cream. Use the best quality you can. I love to use Breyers Natural Vanilla for this.
  • Bourbon. Add some ‘Christmas spirit‘ with bourbon or dark rum!
  • Cool Whip. Whipped topping adds creaminess to the punch and can be used to top it too.
  • Cinnamon & Nutmeg. Sprinkle with grated nutmeg and ground cinnamon to add more flavor and a little garnish on top.

How to Make It

  1. Mix together the eggnog and bourbon in a punch bowl. A whisk works well for this since the eggnog is thicker than the liquor.
  2. Add scoops of ice cream to the mix and stir a bit. You don’t want to melt it altogether as it will help keep the punch chilled and melt slowly on its own.
  3. Top with dollops of whip topping and sprinkle with nutmeg and cinnamon.
  4. Don’t forget to add a ladle to the punch bowl for guests to fill (and refill) their cups when they’re ready.

Eggnog Punch Without Alcohol

To make this kid-friendly just omit the bourbon from the punch bowl, or make individual glasses without the alcohol.
