Gold Party Decor – Ideas For Milestone Celebrations

Gold party design for engagement or anniverary

Do you want to incorporate the hottest trend this year - GOLD – into your next big celebration? Today I’m sharing more photos from the golden engagement party I styled for Celebrations a few months ago. This design is full of easy DIY projects that take minutes to complete, so you won’t be worn out by the time the party begins.

Gold, and especially glittered gold, is all the rage this year and we wanted to use that trend to inspire celebratory tables that would work for an Engagement, Anniversary, or even a milestone Birthday.

You can set this up in the back yard or a banquet hall, and with these tips for setting the table it’s affordable for a larger crowd or an intimate gathering.

  • White table cloths are the foundation of our dining table which makes gold paper place mats pop against it. I found these at Steinmart a while back but you can also find them online.
  • Gold paper doilies are wrapped around white napkins and placed on white plates – again the white makes the gold really pop. Even the light golden hue of white wine stands out against the table.
  • Tiny frames found at Michael’s $1 aisle are used for name markers. If they don’t have gold frames available just buy the other colors and spray paint them.
  • For easy centerpieces, use gold metallic, and gold glitter spray paint to turn tiny bottles into sparkly vases.  TIP: The consensus is that Rustoleum is the best brand for glitter paint. I used Krylon and half the can {2 actually} was wasted because of poor design.
  • One of my favorite supplies – glitter tape – makes an appearance too. Wrap strips around clear cylinders for a dressed up candle holder.

The dessert table and bar is also done in gold and white in keeping with the theme. White desserts are easy to integrate into this color palette.

  • There’s no end to the uses of a collection of empty frames, and here they make a great backdrop to the table. Different sizes and shapes work well together and if you don’t have gold ones, just use more spray paint.
  • Gold glitter letters from Michael’s are hung onto the back of one of the frames and spells out “BAR” to indicate the side of the table that has a little champagne bar.
  • Peach nectar is the perfect hue, and makes up Bellinis when mixed with the bubbles. Other add-in options for the champagne are rock candy sticks and cotton candy.
  • Sweets get a glittery touch with flag cupcake toppers, and a DIY “love” banner topper for the white coconut cake. Golden gumballs could easily be switched out for gold colored bonbons.

Party design based on color is one of the easiest ways to create a cohesive environment. Remember to PIN these ideas for later, and let us know – – what’s your favorite color to design around?

  1. I like this! very creative idea using the gold paper doilies around the napkins and all the gold frames! Would you be interested in guest posting on my blog? I have started a new thing on Mondays called Dining Room Tid Bits…all about the dining room! It could be your take on how you decorated your dining room or a pretty tablescape and what inspired you, or maybe why you feel it’s important to gather your family around the table at dinner time, or even old fun memories of being at the dining table with family. I would love to have you as a guest blogger. Let me know [email protected]
