Chicken Appetizer

I’m excited to share a special recipe from my friend Aimee Broussard’s new cookbook, Picnics, Potlucks, & Porch Parties! And I’m making these luscious brown butter honey chicken wings because nothing makes me happier than a plate of party food & appetizers!

Aimee is a true Southern Belle, and cooks up some delicious recipes and ideas on her blog. She’s just written her second cookbook and has been on QVC selling it. You can buy it HERE now. It would make a terrific gift for newlyweds, or for singles who are looking for easy delicious recipes.

Since I love seeing people living out and fulfilling their dreams, I jumped at the chance to help spread the news and share a recipe from the book. This way you get a peek inside the book plus an appetizer to make for your next party.

Game Day Party Recipe

This easy chicken wings appetizer is perfect for serving at game day parties. Add this recipe to your game day snack ideas and they’ll be a hit!

There are always Buffalo chicken wings at a game day party, but if you bring this one you can be assured it won’t be a duplicate. In fact this slightly sweetened version would be a nice complement to other spicy varieties.

When I made these, I was pleasantly surprised that they weren’t cloyingly sweet. The honey sauce is delicate and perfect alongside a beer or glass of lemonade. The recipe calls for grilling the wings but we’ve had so much rain lately that we had to cook them in the oven. They came out beautifully tender and delicious.

Brown Butter Honey Chicken Wings recipe

from Picnics, Potlucks, & Porch Parties by Aimee Broussard

  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Sauce

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar

To make sauce, cook butter in saucepan over medium-high heat for 5 minutes, or until brown bits begin to form. Transfer to a small bowl and cool 5 minutes,

Cook honey and vinegar in saucepan over medium heat, stirring often, about 2 minutes. Whisk in browned butter.

Meanwhile, preheat grill to medium-high heat. Toss wings in a large bowl with olive oil. Add salt and black pepper and toss to coat.

Grill wings, covered, 25-30 minutes, until skin is crisp and wings are done, turning occasionally. Using a basting brush, generously brush wings with Honey Sauce.
