Bourbon Lemon Iced Tea

Growing up in the South, iced tea was as common as feathers on a chicken ;-) …and the sweeter, the better! It was the quintessential “social” beverage at cookouts, reunions, birthdays, showers, and Sunday Suppers, and when I went to college I was friends with a lot of Northerners who quickly learned the virtues of sweet iced tea at every meal {ECU had a lot of students from New Jersey, Maryland, & PA}.

As an adult I still like to enjoy a glass of iced tea, but I think I like it this way even better – with a kick! I mixed up a bourbon lemon tea cocktail that is great to enjoy for a girls night in, or for an afternoon “tea party.” It’s been a couple of months since my last girls night in where we sit around and eat, drink, and GAB! I may have to introduce this cocktail to the next ladies gathering {or for the guys too}.

Lipton Iced TeaBourbon Iced Tea

  • 4 oz lemon flavored iced tea {Lipton 100 Calorie Half & Half (Tea & Lemonade)}
  • 1 1/2 oz bourbon
  • 3/4 oz pomegranate juice

Combine all ingredients together over ice. Garnish with lemon slice.

The bourbon pairs well with the iced tea, and the addition of the pomegranate imparts another layer of flavor on top of the lemon. I also tried this drink using the Lipton Diet Green Tea Honey Ginseng and it worked equally well. For the kids, I made a glass without the bourbon and my daughter loved it.
