What To Wear to Summer Parties
Anyone who knows me knows my love for a maxi dress. Just look at any photo I’ve shared from Operation Shower, or blogger conferences/meetups and you’ll see I’m always wearing a maxi dress. I have very good reasons for this obsession: they flatter every figure {and hide a multitude of imperfections}, they’re so comfortable, they pack easily, and they can be casual and dressed up at the same time.
I’ve put together some of my favorite finds from online, along with some accessories to complement them. You’ll notice I love to wear these with a wedge or chunky heel sandal.
- My advice for most people is to look for an empire waistline – the kind that cinches in just below the bust line. This style is universally flattering, not to mention the most comfortable {ie: it allows you to eat without a waistband digging into your stomach}.
- I love the flowing styles above that have no waist at all. Of course you need to be pretty tall to pull these off with aplomb {5’5″ is tall in my 5’2″ perspective}, otherwise it can overwhelm you.
- Don’t forget to have a short cami or shrug to throw on when there’s a chill in the air. I always carry a short cami similar to the one above because sleeveless may feel great outdoors, but inside the air conditioning is too cold.
- Styles range from sporty to dressy so choose for your occasion. I wear my maxi dresses everywhere from cookouts to dinner dates. I think the maxi dress may just be the best thing since sliced bread!
