Something Blue Theme Bridal Shower
Host a Something Blue bridal brunch for the bride in your life. I’ve created decor and a brunch menu that’s sure to please.
You know the old saying for brides: “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.” Well, I’ve taken that last part literally and created a blue bridal brunch for all you spring/summer brides out there!
I think you’ll like these ideas and recipes for a light brunch. It’s pretty easy to incorporate blue into the theme with dishes, flowers, food, and balloons. And just so it’s not TOO blue, I added in bits of yellow throughout, for a pop of brightness.
Tips for creating a Blue Bridal Brunch:
- Layer on the blue dishware. I found a beautiful set of blue and white plates, and coordinated them with dessert plates I already owned, then added miss-matched bowls on top. The layers are so visually interesting with the various patterns, and my vintage blue glasses and blue napkins round out the setting.
- Blue hydrangeas are my go-to flower when I need a blue arrangement. A few pops of yellow mums and lilies add some dimension to the look.
- One of my favorite details for a bridal shower is my 3-piece place card set. These combine a name card, menu card, and game or trivia card all in one. For this particular set I attached them using gold jump rings, and created a personalize word search card with the bride and groom’s names plus other wedding related words.
- Balloons pack a punch in this blue bridal brunch party. I used a Balloon Time helium tank to fill lots of blue and white and golden yellow balloons to the background. They add color to the space, as well as a festive atmosphere. The special touch though, is the diy flower ‘tails’ I ties on to several of the balloons. This was done simply by using blue flowers from the craft store, and removing them from their stems. I then used a needle and thread to go through each flower and space them out to create a lovely floating “garden.”
- More balloons are added around the guest of honor’s chair, along with a special pair of blue heels and “love” sign.
Blue Bridal Brunch menu & recipes:
- The brunch menu includes foods that incorporate blue tones in the decor. Brie is topped with blueberry sauce and decorated with flowers. Serve it as an “appetizer” in the center of the table.
- Savories include mini onion quiches and peppered bacon. You could also serve this classic easy chicken quiche.
- Yogurt bowls include fresh blue- and black-berries as well as yellow mango and sliced banana. Other toppings that guests can pile on are sunflower seeds, granola, toasted coconut, raisins, mini chocolate chips, and slivered almonds or walnuts.
- Sweets to end the meal include mini pavlova blueberry desserts, and of course cake.
- Speaking of cake, a two-tiered wedding-style cake is a beautiful way to celebrate the occasion. Add some ‘paint strokes’ to the frosting to coordinate with the printed card trio, and decorate with fresh flowers {don’t eat the flowers if they’re not safe}.
