RED CARPET COCKTAIL

I’m about to wrap up this week’s Oscars party ideas with something to quench your thirst – a Red Carpet cocktail.  I’m actually hosting my own Red Carpet viewing party on Sunday with a bunch of girls, and I was of course inspired to create a drink that would echo the red color.  I started playing mixologist in the kitchen and came up with this tasty concoction.

The spirit of choice is vanilla vodka.  If you don’t have a bottle, run out and get one now!  It makes some of the best cocktails!  The end result is a drink that’s not too sweet, and goes great with salty snacks.  I love to balance sweet and salty among food and drink pairings when possible.  The color is vibrant and would be so pretty for Christmas or Valentine’s Day as well.  Here’s the recipe …

Red Carpet Cocktail

  • 1/3 cup cranberry juice cocktail
  • 1 oz pineapple juice
  • 1 1/2 oz vanilla vodka
  • splash of ginger ale
  • ice

In a cocktail shaker, add ice, cranberry juice, pineapple juice, and vodka.  Shake vigorously for 5 seconds and strain into martini glass.

Top off with a splash of ginger ale and serve.

Serve these on a red carpet runner alongside my bowtie champagne flutes and you have a fabulous drink station!  Cheers to the Oscars!

Is “Cranberry Juice Cocktail” the same thing as “Cranberry Juice”. I’ve never used either so I’m not
    familiar with this “liquid”. Thanks.

    • Annabelle, cranberry juice cocktail typically has a little sugar added to lighten up the tartness of straight cranberry juice. You could certainly use cranberry juice for this drink as well, with probably a slightly less sweet outcome.
