Story Book Themed Baby Shower
Honor the avid reader mom-to-be with a Story Book Themed Baby Shower with inspiration shared with us, below.
I love today’s guest feature and I know you will too. This is a baby sprinkle design based on classic children’s books like The Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, Bambi, and Snow White. It was sent in by Terry Lew of Hunter and Gather Decor and Prop Rentals, whom the event was also for. The decor is eclectic with a rustic vintage feel. The setting was apropos too, held in a local book store/art gallery where books are the natural surrounding.
You are going to love and be inspired by the photos, as Terry shares all the details about this story book themed baby shower.

Story Book Themed Baby Shower Details:
From Terry: ” I was aiming for a modern and eclectic rustic feel, with a color palette of metallic gold, pale pink, forest green and soft white. Inspiration from the storybooks included hand-painted gold forest animals, wood rounds, mini terrariums, book page prints in white frames, a book page runner, gold apples, glass cloches, a white tea cart, milk glass and mason jar vases, wooden flatware with gold accents, antlers, mismatched china plates and tea cups, and of course lots of children’s books!
I chose Alley Cat, a bookstore and art gallery in San Francisco’s Mission district, as a venue because it was a quirky and unique location. And since the sprinkle was inspired by storybooks, it only made sense to hold it at a bookstore!
My super talented sister, Cindy, calligraphed the invitation as well as all the signage for the sprinkle. We also set up a calligraphy station using a vintage white desk and brass easel and frame from my Hunt & Gather rental collection, where guests could have a phrase of their choice calligraphed and placed in a matted frame – it was a hit!
Each guest also got to take home a mini terrarium that I made using a small rose bowl, small rocks, preserved moss and a tiny plastic deer. The terrariums were placed at each place setting, anchoring each guest’s place card.
I decided to forgo games, so in addition to the calligraphy station, my sister made a simple “Guess the baby’s birthday” activity where guests wrote down their name on a vellum leaf sticker and placed it on the date they thought the baby would be born on.
For music, I set up a record player with lots of vintage children’s LP’s {also from my Hunt & Gather rental collection}.
I wanted the menu to be tea party fare with a twist, so instead of tea sandwiches, scones and mixed greens, we had focaccia finger sandwiches, buttermilk biscuits, and quinoa salad, as well as mini quiche and a cheese and fruit platter.
Dessert was set up on a forest green hutch and cabinet, with the sweets displayed on milk glass or pink depression serving ware.
My husband Brian stopped by at the end of the sprinkle to help with clean up, along with my feisty 2-year-old Eden, who loves being a big sister!”
