Colorful Baby Shower Theme
Get inspired by this colorful baby shower event with Operation Shower, honoring new moms and moms-to-be from military families.
A couple of months ago I had the pleasure of volunteering my time to this colorful Baby shower event given by Operation Shower. This is a non-profit organization I’ve been happy to give my time to over the past 6 years, and it’s always such a joyous occasion.
The theme of the baby shower was “Go Wild” and incorporated lots of color and whimsical toy animals. There were three different centerpiece designs that spread out over fifteen tables, and each one topped by an oversize balloon.
That’s sort of the signature style of all the OS events: 3 distinct but coordinated centerpieces that are very DIY friendly. That means you can get tons of ideas that you can incorporate into your own celebration at home, or larger event planning.
Tablescapes

Notice the three centerpieces I reference above. One has a mini highchair with stuffed animal, another has stacked boxes with stuffed animals and vintage toys, and a final design has decorated box frames.
Printed table signs tie the looks together, as well as the color scheme and flower arrangements.

Decoration

The floating oversized balloons add height to the expansive room, and certainly create a feeling of celebration.

Signs and graphics for the event help pull the entire look together. A welcome sign, tabletop signs, place cards, and more all coordinate with the party design.
Food

This colorful baby shower event was held as a luncheon, catered by the hotel. It consisted of various sandwiches and salads.
We decorated a dessert table with items that echo those of the dining tablescapes including stuffed animals, toys, and stacked boxes. A colorful backdrop was hung behind and on the table. The fabric is actually curtain panels!

As with any baby shower one would host at home, there were activities and plenty of entertainment. The moms were able to create their own custom onesie at the craft table, as well as have loads of “selfie” fun at the photo booth provided by DJ Max Powers (LOVED the setup!). Check out the photo booth pics we volunteers took, above!

The moms-to-be were showered with more gifts than you can imagine, from the classic shower-in-a-box filled with toys, clothes, & everyday needs, to bedding and car seats, etc. There were also special prizes given for games and raffle winners.

Operation Shower gives group baby showers to the wives of our deployed service men, who are ‘expecting’. Gerber was the major sponsor for this event, which was held at the Gaylord Hotel at National Harbor, Maryland.
At the end of the day 40 lucky ladies were showered with everything they could need to help them start their life with a new baby, including 39 new friends. To see more & find out how you can get involved, follow Operation Shower on Facebook.
