Homemade Salt Scrub
These diy salt scrub favors are perfect for baby or bridal showers, as well as hostess or birthday gifts. Make up a batch and have them at the ready for last minute gift giving.
This is a project I included in my pink party last fall and it’s so simple to do. All you need are a few ingredients to make the scrub, and some cute containers to store it in. Also, if you’re looking for an activity for guests to do themselves at the party, this is a great solution.

You know me – I’m not going to do diy projects that are too intimidating or require too many supplies. This is a fantastic project that literally anyone can do. Even children could make these up for teacher’s gifts or Mother’s day gifts.
Helpful Tips
- I think it goes without saying, that you can tint these any color you like so they coordinate with your decor.
- Add a few drops of essential oil if you want to add fragrance to the scrub.
- You can find pretty jars similar to the ones here, at most any craft store {JoAnn’s, Hobby Lobby, Michael’s} or online {save-on-crafts.com, Amazon}. Just Google search for glass jar with cork top.
- To add a pretty label I just printed the name {several times} onto a piece of firm scrapbook paper. I punched each one out using a decorative paper punch, and adhered it to the jar with double-sided tape.
- A strip of glitter tape from the craft store holds the lid on tightly.
- To use the salt scrub, pour a little bit into the palm of your hand or a washcloth, and rub over body while in the tub or shower. It leaves your skin soft and smooth as it exfoliates.
DIY Salt Scrub Favors
- 3/4 cup course sea salt
- 3/8 cup Epsom salt
- 1/8 cup baking soda
- 5 drops red food coloring
In a small bowl combine the salts and baking soda.
Add 2-3 drops food coloring and mix well, until color begins to form evenly. Add remaining drops and continue mixing until pink color is even throughout.
Use a funnel to pour, or spoon into glass jar with stopper.
NOTE: While I have not had any problems with tinted skin or water from the dye, I’ve been informed that in 1 particular case this did happen. I think the cause may be the type of coloring used (gel maybe?). I used Dec-a-Cake liquid drops.
These are SO cute Chris! Love the labels too! How’d you get the gold foil around the edges of the labels? Or does it just look like it’s gold foil?
Jess, I just used a gold marker and drew around the edge of the tag. Easy peasy!
