DIY Balloon Grape Cluster

Make this fun and festive balloon 'grape cluster' for a wine tasting party.

I have a cute diy project for your next wine tasting party – a balloon ‘grape cluster’! I’ve teamed up with Balloon Time to bring you some fun ways to incorporate balloons into your parties, and I’m so pleased with how this turned out. To be honest, I wasn’t sure if what I had in my mind was going to transfer into reality but I think it looks adorable, don’t you!

This balloon grape cluster took about an hour to put together and it’s pretty much a beginner level project so get ready to create your own with my tutorial below. This is an unexpected accent placed next to your wine table or bar cart. Think about doing this for an over-21 birthday party celebration.

DIY Balloon ‘Grape Cluster’

Supplies:

  • Balloon Time helium tank
  • about 17-20 purple balloons
  • fishing line
  • green curling ribbon
  • 2 large pieces of green scrapbook paper, cut in the shape of grape leaves
  • clear tape

Putting it all together:

Begin by blowing up 12-15 balloons, tying them off, and tying a long piece of fishing line to each.

Start at the bottom or your “cluster” and build upwards. You want it wider on the top than at the bottom.

You’ll be securing the balloons in place my taping them to the floor. If you don’t have a hard floor surface to work with you could use a square of cardboard or foam board instead.

Once you have your basic shape, you can fill in any holes with more balloons along the backside.

Cut a few lengths of curling ribbon {curled using scissors} and attache them to a few balloons, either tied on at the ‘tail’ or taped on to the top.

Tape your ‘leaves’ to the wall just at the edge of the balloon line so they look attached.

NOTE: the paper leaves were too heavy to attach directly on to the balloon. You could try making them with green tissue paper instead, since it’s a much lighter weight.

This project worked quickly and smoothly with two people. My husband {who is apparently a balloon ninja} did the blowing up and tying off, while I added the fishing line and set it all up. I couldn’t keep up with how quickly he did it! LOL

Let this be your primary decoration when you host a wine tasting, like this sampling of Hess wines {some of my new faves}. Add some cheeses and crackers and this party couldn’t be simpler!
