Get ready for an amazing DIY balloon theme baby shower that’s perfect for a boy or a girl. And it’s loaded with ideas and resources to help pull it off without a hitch. I’m sharing decoration ideas, a tasty luncheon menu, and vendor information so you can pull this theme together too.

Balloon theme Baby Shower

You all know how much I love to design parties and ideas to inspire you, right! And usually I work very independently to show you that if I can do it, then so can you. Well today I’m THRILLED to be joined by some wonderfully talented vendors who helped me pull off this balloon theme baby shower.

And even better news…I’ve listed all the vendors at the bottom so you can shop this party and re-create it for your loved one!

The balloon theme is subtle but defined, with jumbo sized balloons at each party station – seated table, dessert table, a ‘welcome’ bar, and gift area. Customized vendor items really help to define the theme as you’ll see.

I was inspired by the invitations from Minted. They were the perfect jumping off point and were used as the ‘design template’ when coordinating with the other vendors. I worked off the blue and yellow colors, and added in pink and green for a light, spring palette. The “oh baby” seen in the balloon tail is also used throughout the party.

Baby Shower Table Setting

  • I kept the seated table simple, using my classic white plates, vintage pink salad/dessert plates, vintage blue glasses, and paper place mats. When hosting a crowd I always start with portable tables topped with my TableVogue cover, for a clean line.
  • Custom menus were designed by Jen T Designs and coordinate with the look of the invitation, with watercolor calligraphy, clouds, and a single yellow balloon.
  • A colorful centerpiece from FTD was transferred into my own vase and is low enough for conversation to flow freely.
  • A single jumbo sized balloon from Celebration Lane is tied to the back of a chair designating that spot for the mom-to-be.
  • You can have the meal catered, or make items yourself. Some of my favorite tried & true recipes are crunchy chicken salad with peanut dressingsesame chicken salad in puff pastry cups and honey chicken salad cups. These are always a winner and go well with this roasted grape salad, or creamy crunchy cucumber salad.

Baby shower Dessert table

  • The dessert table is a vision of loveliness with custom designed treats that bring it all together. A tall layer cake is topped by a beautiful gold cake topper from Paper + Pop.
  • Stunning designer cookies from Flourish Sweet Shop are displayed on a cake stand and vintage glass dish, for height and interest. They could also serve as take home favors.
  • Chocolate cake pops and dipped Oreos from Buttercream & Sprinkles round out the display. The combination of balloons, the watercolor effect, and Springtime are all represented.
  • Two more jumbo balloons flank the table to give it a place of importance.

Baby Shower Bar Cart

  • A bar cart is the perfect place to set up sparkling wine as a ‘Welcome’ for guests as they arrive. Decorate the front with a tassel banner from the Flair Exchange.
  • Fresh flowers and large sturdy leaves add more unique decorative touches. The flowers are cut very short and placed inside the ice bucket, while leaves are nestled to the side. This is a great place to use inexpensive “filler flowers” like carnations or alstroemeria.
  • Larger leaves are used as the base for a “sign.” Just write on them using a gold sharpie for a lovely detail your guests will love.
  • The stir sticks by California Lustre are a personal favorite. I just love them, and had the “oh baby” ones made custom for this shower. I’ll be using the “cheers” ones for every party from now on!
  • I love adding these traditional style baby shoes to baby shower decor. These were my daughters and they put a smile on my face. They look darling placed on a vintage plate with a cloche to cover. Replace the old shoe laces with thin ribbon to match the party colors.
  • Party favors are tubes filled with wild flower seeds. They represent rebirth and renewal, just like babies and springtime.
  • Don’t forget the jumbo balloon tied to the bar station!
  • The best seat in the house should be the one for the guest of honor {below}. Make her comfy in a soft chair with a pillow to support her lower back. Tie a balloon on to the chair, and place gifts close by in a wire rolling rack, basket, or table.
  • Finally, you can incorporate this diy balloon gender reveal project to share the news with guests during the party.
