If you have a pool or just want to host a backyard party with a tropical vibe, then you’re going to love the decoration ideas I’m sharing today.

Quick Tip

Don’t have your own private pool? Set up several kiddie pools in the back yard to bring in the pool atmosphere in a whimsical way.

This party exhibits a tropical vibe with pineapples and flamingos, but also carries out the pool theme with beach balls, a pool noodle “garland,” and lots of playful floats.

Since this is outdoors and would likely be set up around water and a concrete surround, using disposable dinnerware is a smart move. White disposable dinnerware is used for serving food, but also for decoration and activities. Did you notice the scalloped banner is made from the paper plates?

Our friends at Evite® created this pool party that incorporates white disposable tableware in very unique and clever ways.

One of my favorites is the use of the square plates that they turned into letter “tiles” for a word scramble game.

Easy, classic cookout food is served in an inviting and pretty presentation, while the decorative palette is colorful and festive.

Kids Pool Party Ideas

She also added lots of personal and creative touches to give the products a more custom look. This is a great lesson on how to individualize those mass produced paper goods!

Sweets Table

One of my favorite details of this design is the lifeguard chairs with push pops on top. A very creative and unexpected use for the paper chairs. Fill the push pops with blue jello to mimic water.
Make a cake and frost it with white and blue-tinted icing swirled together to create a water effect.
You won’t believe how the “O” rings are created. Cut pool noodles crosswise using a sharp knife! The circles are used to create a table runner, a hanging swag, and a mobile.
Paint chipboard letters and cover them with paillettes using hot glue to give texture to the “swim” display.

Favor Table

Buy blue and green drinks and remove the labels. Attach striped straws using coordinating washi decorative tape.
Lollipops, taffy, and flip flops make great favors for a pool party, and cupcake boxes hold a special treat to enjoy at home.
