Bridal Shower Theme: Recipe for Love
You’ll love this retro kitchen themed bridal shower with it’s bright colors and mini food menu.
I loved designing this retro style “Recipe for Love” bridal shower with vintage-style decorations, details, and mini foods.
It all started when I found the yellow vintage rolling cart on a thrift store hunt. From that, I knew I wanted to style this with classic “diner” food, but in mini versions. Finding the retro style soup cans at Target was a bonus which I couldn’t wait to incorporate into the design.
This bridal shower theme is colorful, creative, and nostalgic. It’s easy to recreate with my tips and ideas below.
Themed Details
- This retro style shower is brought to life with vintage style soup cans used as flower vases, and a canister filled with kitchen utensils used as a centerpiece.
- Heart-shaped cookie cutters make great napkins rings and can be taken home with each guest.
- Classic diner fare like burgers, fries, grilled cheese & tomato soup, and milk shakes & pie are all served in small portions for an updated twist.
- A vintage rolling cart found on a thrift store hunt is the perfect piece to help set the stage.
- Take home favors are homemade hot cocoa mix placed in flip top jars.
- Another vintage find – a soda crate – holds classic coke bottles with straws for sipping.
- Hanging from above is a frame with wire attached to hold recipe cards brought by guests to help the bride-to-be start her collection.

Greta, I found these cans at Target during a limited time run. However, you can find vintage style printable labels if you do a search.

Retro soup can vases? Brilliant! You always share the most creative ideas. Aww, now I wish I could get married all over again so that I could plan more parties. Perhaps for my 5th wedding anniversary although we’re still a couple of years away from that.
Taking the kitchen feel and putting outside is an interesting idea. The whole theme is helped quite a bit by the diner food, and furniture to boot. A classic cookbook with classic food, what a great vibe! 🙂
