Under The Sea Baby Shower
I have another Operation Shower event to share – a timely post as I am heading out again today to help Amy (planner extraordinaire) with one in Norfolk along with some other N. Virginia party pros. This shower, however, was held in Groton, CT at a submarine base. We had the most amazing room to set up in for this Under the Sea theme. We were in the torpedo room at the USS Nautilus Submarine Force Museum and were literally surrounded by torpedoes and subs. Check out how the cool decor tied in to the room’s display….
We tied dozens of balloons to the chairs and tables to look like bubbles, and the hanging submarine above our heads made the scene even more amazing! Blue table cloths mimic the color of the sea while orange napkins were tied and placed to look like an octopus at each place setting. Some fantastic floral centerpieces were created by Montville Florist, and party printables for the theme were provided by Paper & Pigtails.
A dessert table was set up outside the room, along with catering donated by Applebee’s. The desserts were backed by various colors of blue streamers and circles to convey the sea, and sea grass on each end added height to the display. The most adorable cookies designed by Bee’s Knees Creative were the perfect match to the paper graphics by Paper & Pigtails. Marie of Sweets Indeed once again provided something special to the event. She sent the cutest “fish bowl” cotton candy tubs that had little candy fish placed inside – Too Cute!! A local bakery, It’s My Party Bake Shoppe, supplied some delicious cupcakes with themed toppers to round out the display.
It was also great to meet and work with Stephanie of Couture Parties who helped with this shower. She’s an amazing event planner in Newport, RI and helped greatly with some local vendor involvement including the wonderful photographer, Connerton Photography.
At the end of the day 20 moms-to-be were showered with boxes full of supplies, a stroller, a crib from Pottery Barn Kids, a car seat, a cool modern baby bathtub from Hoppop, a Radio Flyer scooter, and more! All the generous sponsors and donations from people like you helped to make this event possible. For more information or to donate please visit Operation Shower’s Website.
