Finding Inspiration At The Homestead Resort

We just got back from a quick trip that had us picking up the kids {who’ve been at the grandparents for 2 weeks} and attending a family reunion.  But before we did all that the hubs and I were able to spend our last night, sans kids, at The Homestead resort being pampered and relaxing.  This type of outing provides a much needed opportunity to re-charge, but also inspiration for my own entertaining as well.

I’m always in awe of the public spaces designed to be conducive to small group conversations, the decor which usually sparks an interest in re-arranging a room or bookshelf, and the pure indulgence of the food & drink served.  I decided to take some photos to share this loveliness with my readers.

The grounds in the rear of the resort were beautifully manicured and I could only dream of hosting a fabulous garden party there complete with a brick fire pit {where you can roast your own s’mores each night}, a croquet course, corn hole game, and shady gazebos.  We settled on a quiet spot to enjoy Tea Time snacks with a bottle of Nicolas Feuillatte champagne {a sample bottle they were kind enough to send me}.  It was the perfect way to spend the afternoon-for-two.

And some photos from my husband’s iPhone…

  • The grand entrance hall.

  • A view of the back side of the resort.

  • Dinner in the main dinning room where a band was playing some jazzy tunes.  We enjoyed a 4 course dinner including the AMAZING raspberry mousse below.

There are so many places to be inspired for entertaining, especially when you travel.  What are some of your favorite places to find inspiration?
