Winter Baby Shower Inspiration

winter baby shower with Purple Trail

I can’t think of a better time to post Winter Themed Baby Shower Ideas than the coldest day in the past twenty years {10 degrees here in Richmond}!  As you may know, I LOVE baby and bridal showers – there’s just so much you can do with them and they’re fun to create.

One of my favorite starting points to designing a shower is to use the invitation as inspiration.  That’s what I did for this wintertime, gender neutral baby shower theme.  I partnered with Purple Trail Invitations to give you ideas for hosting your own baby shower.

Get The Look:

I chose the Chalkboard Birds & Owls invitation because I loved the graphic element of the birch trees, as well as the contrast of the black chalkboard with the white branches.  This had me longing for those birch style paper straws for guests to sip a signature drink from.

I think a nice luncheon would be a great idea here.  Serve up sandwiches, cold salads, chips, and/or fruit inside kraft boxes, and place them on a buffet table for guests to grab and go, or place at individual seats around dining tables.  You could make my chalkboard painted forks, OR order these fantastic twig-style utensils {obsessed with them}.  Centerpieces can be made using faux birch candles, mixed in with ferns, succulents, or monochromatic flower arrangements.

The dessert table will look adorable set up with chalkboard cookies and owl cupcakes.  Dress up the area with mini chalkboard signs and a party banner and you have another great focal point.

For an activity, let guests write notes to baby.  They can be silly anecdotes about the mom-to-be {e.g. “I met your mom in college and she loved to run out for donuts when studying for exams….at 11pm!”}, or hopes and dreams for the little one.  Just provide cards, pencils, and a sign to direct the guests.

Finally, create memorable favors using muslin bags stamped with an owl motif, and tie on a chalkboard tag shaped like a onesie.  Fill them with small candies like taffy or truffles but remember, it’s not about what’s inside…. it’s all about the presentation!

  4. This is so cute! I love how you the colors you selected are gender neutral, too. I guess my baby shower was really technically in the winter because it was in March before the 1st day of spring 2 years ago. They did the typical blue or baby blue since we all knew I was having a boy. 🙂 It was nice, but I think your colors and ideas are really awesome!
