Trend Alert: Donuts

Welcome to the latest trend alert-Donuts! Donuts {or doughnuts}are so popular right now for dessert tables as well as traditional brunch buffets.  Maybe because they are so budget friendly, or because everyone seems to love them, or because their shape lends itself to many fun display options.  With that in mind I thought I’d put together a few suggestions for serving up everyone’s favorite doughy treat.

Decorative manzanita “trees” have been used for everything from hanging note cards to hanging crystal droplets.  Why not use it to make a hanging donut tree?  What a fun centerpiece for the table or buffet and all you need to do is tie them on using bakers twine or ribbon.  My kids loved this and actually wanted to just bite them right off the string!

A pretty way to dress up the base is to insert some pretty, hardy flowers like carnations.  These hold up well without water so just cutting the stem down and tucking them into the weighted beads that are holding the branch in place is all you need to do.

The Pastry Pedestal is not just for cupcakes & truffles.  Use them to display small donuts or donut holes in a vase filled with foam to hold the pedestal.  Cover the foam with color coordinated candies like these Good & Plenty’s and you are all set for a pretty buffet.

I found this thread spool holder at Michaels months ago and immediately thought it would be fun to use for a donut display.   It would be such an unexpected idea for your guests to see.   Can’t you see this for a “cute as a button” baby shower with lots of sewing props to carry out the theme?!

No matter what your favorite donut is, think about interesting and creative ways to present them to your guests.  Bon Appetit!

This is great! They would be a hit in children’s parties. My son surely loves donuts because of the sugar coating. He devours the sugar first and the bread part later.
