Library themed baby shower

What kind of baby shower do you throw for a teacher who loves to read? A library themed shower of course! This baby shower created by Lori of Elegant Affairs in Washington, has a couple of key focal points but they make a dramatic statement with their graphic backdrop and unconventional color choice.

What I love about this design is the monochromatic color scheme with modern elements that mix perfectly with traditional ones.   The dessert table is simple but effective using books for display, and I love the 3 mini cakes as opposed to one large cake.  The papers for the shower are designed to look like library cards which pulls the whole theme together even more.  Check out the details below…

From Lori:  “For my little sister’s baby shower I wanted to create a theme around her love of reading as she is an elementary school teacher. I had Valerie’s Invite create a library themed invitation and used a blue, gray and white color scheme to match Baby Knox’s nursery.

For the dessert table, I used blue and gray fabric strips from JoAnn Fabrics to create a mosaic effect on the wall. The dessert table featured mini cakes with blue and gray ombre frosting, cherry pie pops, mini cherry cheesecake bites, homemade raspberry flavored blue/gray marshmallow, sugar cookies and S’Mores cups.

For the Beverage station we had a blue tinted lemonade with mini mason jars.  I sewed garlands of blue and gray scrapbook paper along with book page cutouts for a 3-D effect on the wall.   I also used pages from various children’s books as the “linen” or base for the drinks.”

I know, I love the colors too. That color block background is fantastic!
