Make Your Own Laser Cut Accents
If you’re looking to update your party with the latest trend, try adding some laser cut accents to your tabletop. These have been popping up in styled shoots and weddings for months and they really add a fun detail to the decor. As would be expected, the ones used in these shoots and events can be found online and are even custom made featuring guest’s names, etc. Of course I always have to find a way to DIY the trends, which helps save money {I love a bargain} and time {I’m always shopping last minute so shipping would take too long!}.
Lucky for me {and you} I found these die cut words at JoAnn’s fabric & craft store and they are perfect for making your own “faux” laser cut accents. The words are generic enough to be used in most occasions and they can be used in a number of different ways like place setting accents, drink stir sticks, cake toppers, or even gift adornments. Check out the details below…

DIY Laser Cut Accents
Supplies:
- Package(s) wood die cut words
- Wood skewers or stir sticks to suit your project
- Spray paint – I used gold for some and gold + gold glitter for others
- Glue Dots
All you need to do is spray paint your words, let dry, and adhere them to skewers or stir sticks as needed.
You can see how I’ve used these in some of my latest projects here: my Moroccan inspired party and my Entertaining with Tea ideas. For the cake topper I used one large die cut word, “Celebrate” which can be brought out over and over again.
What do you think of this trend and can you see yourself incorporating it?

Spray paint makes everything better, Sandra! 🙂
Hi! That “seventy” cake topper was made by me from my Etsy shop. Could you please change the photo credit link to my Etsy shop?
