Christmas Decor with black & white & gold

Christmas Decor - black and white

Each year I try to let you in on some of the Christmas decor I incorporate {other than what you see in styled shoots} in our home. This year I decorated with a black and white and gold color scheme and just loved it!

I think it’s actually fun to compare the different looks of the tree as seen in my tips for decorating your Christmas tree, and a blue & green with hints of pink & peacock here. The mantel also gets a new look each year as you can see in my “updated classic” look from before, and the more colorful look here.

As you can see, the decor is very simple. Ball ornaments are used a lot, to carry out the color scheme. That’s what I love about them – your really can add an entire look just using Christmas ball ornaments!

HOSTESS TIP: Invest in a full collection of gold, silver, or white ornaments. This can work as your foundation and for any given year you can add in a smaller set of an accent color – which actually ends up looking like the main color!

I like to buy small, medium, and large ornaments for different uses. Small ones look great in small dishes, while large ones look great on open shelves. Medium sizes look great inside apothecary jars and rallied in trays.

A few mini trees go a long way too. I have a set of white paper mache ones that I picked up at World Market this year, and a set of green rustic ones that I’ve had for ages. You can mix and match them as you please and they look great everywhere.

Wreaths are also fun to add over mirrors, over kitchen cabinet doors {uppers}, on bar carts, and on open shelves.

These are just some of the spaces I was able to take a quick shot of. I can’t help but wonder what color combo I’ll decorate with next year!

Merry Christmas!

  1. Absolutely gorgeous! One of my favorite color combinations, and I agree collecting gold, silver, and white as a foundation is so smart!
