Celebrations At Home blog has been sharing inspiration and ideas for home entertaining for over 7 years. See what sets it apart from the rest, and why you should follow along too.
Celebrations At Home Lifestyle & Entertaining Ideas
I’ve had this blog for over 7 years and things have changed a LOT since its inception. In those early years I made connections with fellow bloggers (and readers) that I continue to have, and discuss the business of blogging with. The latest conversation has been about all the things that have changed the landscape of blogging: from photography quality, to sharing guidelines, to social media, to working with brands, etc.
With so much content out there today via Pinterest and all the rest, how does one stand out from the crowd? Why should you read CAH at all? If you’re a brand and potential client, why should you choose to work with me?
I’m going to tell you why.
I’ve lived it and I love sharing my experience as well as my contemporary ideas. I’m not a social media “star” but I have stood the test of time. I thrive on genuine relationships. I’m a bit of a chameleon and a misfit at the same time. I don’t follow the crowd, but I do follow the trends. I present real ideas for real women.
Celebrations At Home stems from my real life experience. I’ve been creating and hosting parties for over 15 years.
When I create an inspiration shoot, share recipes, or share tips and ideas it’s because I’ve lived it and learned from it; not because I’ve read about it somewhere else.
I try to create things that are approachable, and obtainable for one person. I don’t have a team working for me to produce food or decorations, because if I can do it then I think my readers can do it too. I see so many projects today that are overly time consuming, would take an army to pull off, or are just plain impractical. That’s not what CAH is about. I don’t want to intimidate you, I want to encourage you!
I figure out how to bring the big ideas down to earth so you can incorporate them into your own celebrations at home. I get a lot of my inspiration by following what the wedding industry and event planners are doing. That’s always been my approach. If it’s happening on that level then it’s sure to trickle down into home entertaining.
Most of my food inspiration comes from Southern classics that I grew up eating, memories and experiences I had in France and Italy, and restaurants & resorts I’ve visited. Food and drink are an important part of entertaining and I love creating recipes, or just dressing up “easy” prep items.
I like to think of my style as BHG meets Southern Living. Not too modern, not too traditional; classic but with updated & interesting details; and always achievable and inviting.
Everyone has their own style and vision, but with so much emphasis on white backgrounds and studios, everything starts to look the same. Don’t get me wrong, I love the look occasionally but variety is the spice of life! While sometimes a spare, white environment is perfect for setting the tone for a project, real women don’t necessarily live like that.
As I touched on above, I don’t spend a lot of time on overly involved diy projects or recipes. I’m a busy gal just as you are! I believe in easy projects that jazz up the presentation, or create a focal point.
My styling is designed to “invite you in”. I want the audience to wish they could come right in and join the party!
If I’m working with a brand partner I want to show how the product can be utilized in the home entertaining environment. I don’t want to sound like a commercial; readers are too sophisticated for that!
My talent lies in the fact that I can transform a product into an environment for entertaining, and have it entice the reader naturally.
As a stylist and photographer, I love to work with brands that are in line with the CAH point of view, and that appeal to the home hostess. That’s smart for me AND the brand.
I’m a grown woman with a house in the suburbs, a husband, and two young teens.
With so many lifestyle blogs sharing life with babies, or setting up a city apartment, I know what I offer on Celebrations At Home is unique and speaks to a certain segment.
I’ve raised my children in a home entertaining environment where they know the joys and stresses of hosting a party. We’ve been through teaching boundaries and they know some parties are family friendly while others are for adults and cocktails. I love my kids but I also love being “Chris,” who has the same interests as I had before children. My passion for entertaining and creativity didn’t stop because I became a mom; instead I learned how to integrate both into my lifestyle!
The age of Instagram and other social media has given rise to the concept of the millennial generation being King, but our readers have expendable income to spend on fabulous products, delicious food/ingredients, and exciting vacations. We love to cook, share great food, host fun parties, and we have the means to do so!
My stats tell me that my readers are mostly women; about 66% being 25-45 years old, and about 30% being 46-65.
My readers are encouraged by designs that are inspirational but achievable as well. What good is an idea if the reader doesn’t see how it fits into her own situation?
While I love sharing home entertaining ideas, I have other interests that are associated with that. Like so many other home entertainers I love a beautiful space to host in, and a fabulous outfit to kick it up in! I love sprinkling these topics into the mix.
If you like seeing how other people live and update their space, then you’ll enjoy my occasional home decor posts. In fact, my obsession for entertaining came after the process of decorating my first house. I had put so much thought and work into the design that I felt like it was a waste not to invite people in to share it with. That was 18 years ago and interior decorating is still a big hobby of mine.
So whether it’s a casual dinner party, the latest seasonal trend, a room update, or just getting the house ready for guests, I have a unique perspective that ties it all together and makes it possible.
It’s gotten much harder to stand out and get noticed in the sea of lifestyle blogs, but if any of this resonates with you I hope you’ll follow along. If you’re a brand I’d love to discuss how we could work together. Cheers!
