I think I finally see Spring on the horizon which means it’s time to add more color to the dining table! As you know, I’m partnering with Better Homes and Gardens products at Walmart and this month we’re adding color to the home. I knew I needed to bring some color into the morning room because it’s so neutral otherwise, with contrasting light and dark tones.

We actually just got this farm-style table {which I’ve been on the hunt for for 18 months} so I was so excited to show you how to set one dining table two different ways for Spring. I started with the same runner and plates each time, and changed the look through other accessory pieces. I think you’ll find this fun and inspiring, so check out the 2 looks below…

Add More Color to the Dining Table with Look #1:

Casual Spring Table Setting

I set the table here, for a casual family meal. There aren’t a lot of fussy details, just some basic items that add lots of appeal.

  • For this first setting I used the lace medallion runner which lightens the dark wood table, and adds lots of color at the same time. I love the look of it as it reminds me of an exotic Moroccan or Indian theme.
  • My favorite way to add interest to place settings is to layer a decorative salad plate on top of my white plates. It’s an inexpensive “trick” that goes a long way visually. I used three different designs of melamine plates {they’re NOT just for outdoors} for a mix and match look: red floral, blue floral, and medallion {in store only}.
  • I was thrilled to find the first tulips of the season so I bought a few bunches for this pretty centerpiece. They say Spring is in the air!
  • Yellow napkins and orange glasses finish off the look and add a bit of feminine flair which is in contrast to the table #2.

A Spring table for Entertaining

The second look I created is a little more detailed and as such would be excellent for entertaining. Think Sunday brunch or even Easter.

  • I used the same runner, but turned it over to the solid yellow side. This immediately gives the table a whole new look! It’s a bit more sophisticated and provides a blank canvas with which to layer other pieces on to.
  • I dressed up the place settings with painted wooden tags used as place cards, and tied around mini french loaves.
  • The centerpiece is a bit more formal here with roses, delphinium, spider mums, and greenery.
  • Replacing the orange glasses with the green and blue ones makes this table less feminine and more universal, don’t you think.

Which of the two looks is your favorite?

I hope these tips help you in setting your own Spring table. You can set a stylish table for entertaining without spending a fortune, and by investing in a few colorful pieces. Choose the color and patterns that speak to you, or that go with the decor you already have. You can dress up a neutral space by adding some lovely pieces like I did here. I think you’ll love the look!
