DIY Bottle Labels

One of my favorite ways to get inspired is to simply walk the aisles of the craft store, especially the novelty scrapbook section. There’s such an array of items that lend themselves perfectly to diy entertaining projects. My bottle label ‘necklaces’ is one such project that I’m particularly proud of and that can be used over and over again…and they were created all because I found those tiny canvas tags while perusing the scrapbooking aisle.

I first made these and showcased them in my shabby chic bridal shower design. They looked darling en masse hanging around pretty decanters for a champagne bar. I used them again more recently in my girls only tailgating design. This time they helped dress up plain old flip top bottles.

Today I’ll walk you through the steps and supplies you’ll need to create them yourself. It’ll give your drink presentation a custom handmade feel whether you’re serving mixers for the bar or juice for brunch.

DIY Bottle Label Necklaces

Supplies:

  1. Iron-on transfer sheets for light fabric
  2. ball chain with connectors
  3. jewelry pliers
  4. jump rings
  5. mini canvas tags
  6. wire cutters
  7. iron

Decide what label words you want to print {peach, OJ, pear, etc.} and use a program like PicMonkey to write it and then flip it so it reads backwards.

Save the words, upload them to your files, and print them out on the iron-on transfer sheet.

Cut out the words leaving only a very small border. Follow the directions on the transfer paper packaging and iron it on to the small canvas tag.

Use the wire cutters to cut the ball chain into lengths that will fit around your bottles. Attach a connector to one end.

Using the jewelry pliers, insert a jump ring through the hole in the canvas tag. Close it securely and place it on the ball chain.

Hang the “necklace” around the bottle and close the ends with the fastener.

As I mentioned, you can make these labels for all sorts of drinks. Make some for the bar to label liquor decanters {whiskey, vodka, scotch, etc} or for juice like I’ve done here.

These are the kinds of diy’s I love to do. They’re super cute and useful, and they’re unique to CAH {hard to say these days in a world of “no original ideas”}. I hope you’ll give these a try!  Cheers!
