I think I should go ahead and call this week “drink week.” It just so happens I have posts scheduled every day that are centered around entertaining with adult beverages, so let the fun begin! For this Wine & Cheese Ladies Night Party I teamed up with Black Box wines to create a casual setting for the gals, and show you how you can incorporate boxed wine into your stylish entertaining.

I invited a few friends over to sip sangria and Souvignon Blanc, and munch on tasty cheese & charcuterie. The weather was perfect for outdoor seating and it only took minor planning to pull the whole look together.

This wine & cheese ladies night party is perfect for outdoor entertaining.

Set a chic relaxed tablescape for your wine & cheese ladies night party

  • I have a thing for stylish paper place mats so I grabbed these up a while ago and was inspired to use chalkboard details in the design.
  • Black and white napkins add modern flair while the jute twine gives them a rustic touch. Adhesive chalkboard labels from Michael’s are placed on stemless wine glasses and act as place cards for each lady, as well as keeps track of wine or water filled glasses while moving and mingling.
  • I decided to use succulents in lieu of flowers for the centerpiece. There was just something about the green color and architectural quality of the succulents that I couldn’t resist. Plus, I can keep the plants {hopefully I don’t kill them} for home decor.

Set up an inviting wine & cheese bar and let guests help themselves.

  • It’s hard to beat a good cheese plate when you want to serve a small group. I picked up French brie, Spanish Manchego, and Italian Gorgonzola. The 3 cheeses represent different countries of origin as well as different textures {soft, hard, & semi-soft}.
  • Thinly sliced Prosciutto, spiced olives, roasted walnuts, and grapes round out the platter. I also added a bowl of rosemary gourmet potato chips because I love that salty crunch when sipping a sweet drink like Sangria.
  • I made this red wine Sangria recipe using Black Box Merlot, and I decanted the Souvignon Blanc into flip top bottles for easy serving. For each box you get the equivalent of 4 bottles of wine, so for a party one box is all you need!

STYLISH ENTERTAINING TIP: Serve sangria, or other punch, from a large apothecary jar using a ladle. This is more unexpected than a pitcher or beverage dispenser.

  • My chalkboard glasses are the perfect size for holding this festive drink, and no one gets their glasses mixed up when their names are written on them with chalk.
  • All through the party I used printed chalkboard signs as well. I added whimsy with “no boys allowed” and “girls only” signs for our ladies night party.

This is easy entertaining at its best. A minimalist approach with modern lines, a touch of rustic, and a bit of whimsy….Cheers!
