Valentine’s Day Cookie Decorating Party {Guest Feature}

Here’s a great idea for celebrating Valentine’s Day with the kids – a cookie decorating party like this one from Katie of Petite Social. Katie designed this party with rustic elements and a color scheme of red, blush, and brown & tan. She set up a simple but stylish sweets table, with some darling Valentine’s printables from Frosting & Ink {I love this set!}. The children were able to frost and decorate heart-shaped cookies and take home some sweet favors. This would be a fun play date after school or on a weekend afternoon.

Here’s what Katie says about her party: “You can’t celebrate Valentine’s without a dessert table filled with sweet treats! Using a play on words, we had Mad for You Macarons, Be Mine Brownies, Kiss me Cake Pops, Cupid’s Cupcakes, and a variety of Hug Me Heart Candies. Each child got to take home little ‘LOVE’ muslin favor bag filled with heart candies.”

“In addition to a dessert table, I created a cookie decorating station for the little ones. Each guest had their own personalized cutting board, spatula, and heart-shaped cookies to decorate. Frosting and heart candies and sprinkle were set out for the kids to make their creations.”

Some of my favorite ideas from the party:

  • Simple cupcakes, brownie bite, and macarons are dressed up with frosting and candy hearts.
  • Rustic “twigs” inserted into cake pops.
  • Creative use of paper doilies – wrap milk bottles, embellish a Valentine’s card box, decorate an apothecary jar, and hang on the backs of chairs.
  • Themed favor bags.
  • An adorable work station with plastic cutting board & spatula embellished with pretty papers.
  • Kid size aprons are always a nice idea for any food themed party.
