Have you noticed the trend in cakes lately? The naked cake topped with flowers is EVERYWHERE in event/party design and I love how it looks! I think for me it’s the juxtaposition between a “formal” tiered cake, and the rustic “unfinished” look of bare or lightly dragged sides. When two seemingly opposing ideas come together it somehow works! What’s more, delicate floral bouquets are placed on top and add elegance and a touch of nature to the look.
I’ve seen some that are topped with mounds of fresh berries, which is also lovely but a little more expected.
