Top Party Ideas From Last Year + Tell Us What You Want To See!

Happy New Year Everyone! As I am still trying to re-group from all the holiday buzz and get into the groove of a new year, I thought I would re-visit and share the Top 6 Blog Posts from last year according to Google Analytics. You’ll notice this is an eclectic mix from kids parties to weddings to tutorials.

I’d also LOVE for you to leave a comment and let me know what YOU would like to see more of this year: entertaining basics? specific party theme ideas? complete party series {like these}? I want to bring you as much “useful” content as I can and being so close to the job, I may be overlooking something you want/need to see.

Now, lets take a walk down memory lane, shall we.  Click the photo for the complete post, and read on below for my own commentary about each:

Beautiful Brunch table – I am astounded every day to see the number of views this party gets via StumbleUpon. This brunch table styled by Frilly Milly Events is simply chic and a testament to how a few ideas can translate into a beautiful and classic presentation.  It’s the number 1 post for 2011!

Kids Candy Coated Christmas – Thanks to a tiny mention on Bakerella last year, and Pinterest, this party is the second most popular post of the year. It also led to my styled shoot for Yum Food & Fun for Kids magazine so it holds a special place in my heart.

Perfect Little Milk Bottles – This was the first “tutorial” post I think I ever did back in January 2009. It was at the very onset of the dessert table trend and had posted 1 cute photo of snowmen created out of vintage milk bottles. Since there was nothing at the time to re-create the look I had the bright idea to use the Frappuccino bottles since they had that vintage shape. Thanks to a few fabulous party stylists who found my idea and used it, and were subsequently featured on sites like HWTM and others, the rest is history and we’ve seen these bottles used on countless dessert tables and in parties ever since. Of course I’ve updated the original post with newer photos, and this 3 year old idea is still my 3rd most popular post thanks to Google search.

Little Monster Birthday Party – The Monster theme is a classic birthday theme for boys as well as for Halloween parties. This party designed by Jennifer of Nounces is so popular with it’s bright colors combined with black and white graphic patterns, and some creative fuzzy “monsters” added to the decor.

White Wedding Details – This white wedding I featured from White Room Events is chock full of DIY decorative details you can do your self whether you’re planning a wedding or ANY party. Every photo {and there are a lot} has a fantastic idea in it. It’s in our top 5 posts of the year!

Flag Cake Tutorial – I have to admit this one surprises me a bit because it seems like it’s very holiday specific {4th of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day} but it’s one of our top posts of the year. A fabulous tutorial sent in by Kathryn of Sugar Turn Table, this flag cake gets views year round!

Now, as I mentioned above, I’d LOVE to hear your ideas and input for what you want to see more of in the coming year. It would help to be as specific as you can too. Leave a comment and let me know! Happy New Year!

I guess next year I would love advice on how to make backdrops for dessert tables…I would be really interested in step by step “how to”, including materials used, for eg, for hanging/attaching/glueing decorations to make sure they don’t fall in the middle of the party (ahem, it may or may not have happened to me 😉

What I’d like most to see this year are the best elements of entertaining that have really ~big impact~ –those things that give the most bang for your buck, so to speak. The things that are simple and make the biggest difference in throwing a party–all elements such as easy and awesome decor, the best recipes, and simple and super party favors. I also liked your party series. Thanks for a great blog!
