Christmas Brunch Table

Are you a Christmas brunch kind of family or Christmas dinner? Around here the dinner is special of course, but brunch is really where it’s at!

I think it’s because brunch, in general, is such a luxury that we only get to do occasionally. And Christmas morning is the perfect time to indulge.

This red & white Christmas tablescape is festive with a little whimsy. And it has plenty of details to pique your interest.

Since brunch is the inspiration here, the table is a bit casual but with plenty of details.

Christmas Table Settings

This year I’ve gone with a traditional color combination of red and white, and added in some black for a modern touch. Black ALWAYS seems to add a modern spin to a table setting.

The color scheme all started in the family room with our Christmas tree and continues into the dining area.

Follow the theme of your Christmas tree decorations for a unified look throughout your home, from living room to dining room.

PARTY TIP: Set the table the night before so it’s all ready first thing in the morning.

Red & White Christmas Tablescape

To create the table setting I started with red and white dishes that I layered on top of black chargers. Solid colors are an easy trick for budget entertaining. Re-use the red plates for Christmas, Valentine’s Day, 4th of July, and more, rather than using themed novelty dishes.

I used my favorite new black flatware along with black and white napkins, vintage champagne coupes, and colorful tea glasses. I’ll admit the red tea glasses were a gift to myself, from World Market. I love how pretty they are and they’re great for juice, milk, or eggnog. Use them later on for red wine too!

Creating a Christmas centerpiece is as easy as filling a compote with color-coordinated ornaments and flanking it with small vases of roses. To fill out the arrangements I cut some evergreen sprigs from the backyard and added them in.

Add in Christmas details with holiday stir sticks, party poppers, and a gift of hot cocoa at each place setting. The boxes of hot cocoa are adorable (from HomeGoods) and they’re all different so you can add them to guests’ seats based on personality.

Brunch menu

For Christmas morning, these are some  of my favorite dishes to serve.

  • I put together a brunch cheese board as a special holiday treat. This takes brunch entertaining to another level when served with mimosas or this easy Christmas mimosa.
  • My cheesy grits casserole is a decadent dish that’s easy to put together and then bakes while you’re opening presents.
  • These mini quiche cups can be put together the night before and then popped in the oven in the morning, to cook.
  • I LOVE this eggnog bread pudding and only hate that eggnog isn’t available year-round so I can make it more often!
  • Scones & jam can be served on the table or as part of the cheese board, along with bacon or bacon-wrapped smokies.
