Pina Colada

Make this healthier version of a pina colada using Silk as the base.

Today I’ve teamed up with Silk to bring you a tasty banana pina colada recipe and to show how easy it is to incorporate Silk brands into your entertaining. My husband actually drinks Silk Almond and Vanilla flavors, so it wasn’t a difficult decision for me to try using it in a cocktail {or mocktail}.

They’ve made it easy by creating an array of drinks for you to make, located on the Silkology Fabebook page. I was drawn to the Silk Pina Colada since it totally says “summer party” to me, and we had the Vanilla flavored soy milk on hand. I did make a few tweeks to the recipe listed, and turned it into a banana flavored pina colad and it was delicious. Here’s the recipe:

Banana Pina Colada

  • 1 cup Silk Vanilla soy milk
  • 1/2 cup crushed pineapple
  • 1 banana, peeled & frozen
  • 3 oz. Coconut Rum
  • Extra ice if desired

Slice frozen banana and put into a blender. Pour in Silk, crushed pineapple, rum & ice {if using} and blend until smooth.

Pour and serve.

NOTE: by freezing the banana, you decrease the need for adding crushed ice….a tip I learned when I was pregnant & drinking “mommy” smoothies.

The result was great and I would serve this to some gal pals while sitting on the patio or by the pool. This is also a much healthier way to make a pina colada than using those prepared mixes. You could also try this and add coconut extract or use the Silk Coconut flavor instead. Cheers!
