Neon & Neutrals – Design For Teens {Guest Feature}

It’s a fact that as kids get older there is less inspiration to go by when planning their birthday parties. There aren’t many “themes” to choose from and kids are at that “picky” age, so when I saw this photo shoot by Jesi Haack I thought it would be perfect for teens and tweens! Jesi combined neon pink and yellow with a neutral tan and created a modern youthful setting I think teens would be proud of.

Get the Look:

  • Use linen fabric or brown craft paper to cover the tables with the neutral base.
  • Wrap cylinder vases with craft paper and use different heights to create a centerpiece cluster full of flowers.
  • Use washi tape to create a graphic pattern on each vase.
  • Paint paper mache or wooden numbers {the age of the birthday guest of honor} and place them as part of the centerpiece.
  • Set each place with wooden utensils and paint the handles in coordinating colors.
  • Make paper chains and whimsical garlands with brightly colored paper.

This party decor isn’t over the top but is stunning in it’s simplicity. The colors and graphics add a playful feel perfect for tweens & teens!

  1. Love this!

  2. I love this color scheme! Parties are so nice hen there’s more of a “design aesthetic” than a theme. Beautiful!
