Ahoy It’s A Boy Nautical Themed Baby Shower

by Rebekah Dempsey

Hi everyone! Rebekah here from A Blissful Nest and today I’m sharing our darling Ahoy It’s A Boy baby shower. This has been a theme I have wanted to do for a while and nautical themes are very popular right now for birthday parties and baby showers. For this one I used a classic red and navy blue color scheme and popped in some powder blue. Vintage elements like a weathered table from my garden, an outdoor lantern, and a vintage suitcase added to the rustic feel.

  • I love donut towers right now and they are so easy to make. This one was adorned with a felt flower and some wide burlap ribbon to spruce up the cake stand.

  • Cupcakes are becoming easier and easier to decorate. Above I used baking cups and slipped in my store bought cupcakes and topped them off with some of our decorative cupcake toppers.
  • For the ones below I used fondant toppers by Edible Details and our matching cupcake wrappers for the other half of the cupcakes to sit in.

  • Simple printed paper decorations can add such a wow factor. Water bottles were wrapped with our labels printed on sticker paper, and striped straws had flags {also printed on sticker paper} cut out and attached to them.
  • Dress up your bottles with ribbon and trim from the local fabric store and you are done!

  • These coordinating striped bags can be purchased at any online party supply store. I ordered these cute mini wood clothes pins and stuck our favor tags on top to close them. Placed in this modern faux bois bowl they are a stylish gift for party goers.
  • I also love these boxes by Pamela Smerker Designs. The perfect size for sitting at place settings or grouping in a cluster. I tied these with some twine and adorned the front with one of our party circles.

  • This little outdoor seating area was a comfortable and cozy spot to rest. The artwork on the fence wall was SO easy to make and one of our lucite trays was a nice little addition for drinks to rest on.
  • A sweet little coordinating gift for the mommy to be! A custom onsie by Sweet Threads Clothing Co. was hung in the tree for decoration and then given to the mommy.

Some of the most fun I have before planning a little party is visiting flea markets, garage sales and perusing Craigs list for some vintage finds. Inexpensive and gives you just the right touch of whimsy! Our Ahoy It’s A Boy collection is available in our shop now to help you plan your next sailing away party!
