Little Monster Birthday Party

Create a little monster theme party for birthdays or Halloween parties. Follow these ideas for colorful decor and treats that the kids will love.

This monster party is so cute to look at. The colors are fun and vibrant, and the black & white chevron pattern adds a cool modern touch.

It was designed and sent to me by Jennifer of Nounces, and is full of great ideas.

Choosing a party theme is the easy part and helps you get started on pulling it all together. Here, the black and white chevron fabric gives a graphic base for all the colorful details.

Decoration Tips

Use various sizes of googly eyes from the craft store, and attach them to all kinds of items. Add 1 large eyeball, or lots of tiny ones for a monster effect.

Turn shaggy hand dusters into harry monsters! Attach the googly eyes and stand them upright on the table by slipping them over a sturdy base such as large cans or vases.

Add candy eyes to sweet treats for instant monsters.

What to Serve

When you’re hosting a birthday party for young kids or preschoolers, having an early start time works well with nap times. A brunch menu can be a great choice!

Activities

Cover a wall with long sheets of white craft paper and draw the outlines of monsters for the kids to color. It’s definitely the hit of the party!

Play pin-the-eye-on-the-monster game.

Have a craft table where the kids can make their own monster masks using foam shapes, googly eyes and stickers.

Party Favors

Favors are always fun to put together, especially when you continue the theme. My favorite ideas include something they will use, or eat!

  • The children can take home cute monster bags filled with an assortment of themed items. This bag includes monster sticker book, a box of crayons, a coloring book, pencil, tattoos, sucker, monster bowl and spoon set, monster mask and monster duckie.
  • Send the parents home with delicious homemade muffins.

Have fun creating your own little monster birthday party or kids Halloween party with these adorable ideas.

  4. Someone PLEASE help. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this birthday party theme and doing my best to use a lot of the ideas. I am very un-creative when it comes to these kind of things but I am having fun getting different ideas. I can’t find the chevron table cloths ANYWHERE. The vendor on this website is no longer open or something. where can I find this table cloth?! without spending 100.00
actually ideally id like to find a disposable tablecloth because we are going to need 4 or 5

    1. Hi Lindsey,
The designer simply used fabric off the bolt for the table covering. Look at your local fabric store or an online search for “chevron fabric.”
I’m sure you can pull this together! ; )

    2. Hi Lindsey,

I am mimicking this party idea for my son’s 1st birthday this summer. I found some black/white chevron fabric online at Carousel Designs – under the “Fabric” tab. It’s $7.50/yard which was the best deal I found compared to all the Etsy vendors. I think I spent about $60 for one long continuous cut. I plan to divide it and use it for the gift/favor table and one for the cake table maybe. The other tables I am just using plain black and white plastic tablecloths. Good Luck!
