It’s day 2 of our Vendor Challenge using Pink & Orange as the inspiration! This design is from one stylish lady, Julie of A Reason to Get Together, who’s work I adore. Julie decided on a bridal shower using orange Crush soda in a clever and integral way. Her ideas are both beautiful and easy to re-create for your own celebrations (lady-like birthdays or Mother’s day?). Read on for more details by Julie…
“As soon as I read “pink and orange” I thought of orange Crush bottles and “I’ve got a crush on you” popped into my head as well. I based my whole design concept around that – so I went with a bridal theme. I made a lace table runner out of varying sizes of white paper doilies. Name tags for the bride and groom were also made out of a doily. A lace paper doily bunting was made and hung. And finally, I wrapped the bottoms of the orange Crush bottles with a paper doily as well. I made custom chargers for the plates using pink construction paper (rolled into small cones & layered). The design of the chargers was also mimicked in the “bride” and “groom” name tags.
An armoire served as the serving table for the desserts. Desserts were kept simple and followed the pink and orange color scheme. An easy way to add color to the dessert table was by printing off and gluing the word “love” to a white serving dish. Southland Nursery provided orange day lilies that blended with the natural scape of our set, and provided the appropriate color. They also gave us the pink hydrangeas and the baskets of pink petunias. I made orange pomander balls using a flower punch and white beads from my one of my daughter’s white play necklaces. The chalkboard I made from an old dresser mirror I picked up at the thrift store for two dollars. I painted the frame white and the mirror with chalkboard paint. On it I wrote one of our families favorite tunes. Jessica Moody of Jessica Ann Photography captured these beautiful shots.”
I just want to say that I love the re-purposed mirror turned chalk board, and the paper doiley table runner and bunting. Fantastic projects that anyone can do! Another subtle detail is the word “Love” placed on the platter for decoration – a great alternative to a framed sentiment.
Thanks so much Julie for this gorgeous design and all the great ideas!
