An elegant holiday dessert table is easy to create with these DIY tips and ideas.

We mostly talk about Christmas party ideas here at CAH but let’s not forget about our friends who celebrate Hanukkah. This blue and white and silver dessert table is elegant and full of DIY desserts and decorations.

I used the same dessert items as in my family friendly Christmas party and my bright & glittery holiday party.  But the styling is different to show you how easy it is to create a dessert table for any color scheme or theme. I’ve also included FREE printable hang tags for each of the three party designs. Get the link to those below.

This blue and white dessert table will work for any winter party or Hanukkah celebration.

When it comes to sweets tables, don’t think kids have all the fun. Grownups love dessert too!  When I was 7 months pregnant with my first child I was too tired to go all out for our annual Christmas party. So I decided to host a dessert party instead!

I decided a holiday dessert party would be easier to put together than the usual cocktail party with heavy hors d’oeuvres. I made a few items a couple of days ahead, I bought a couple of pre-made items from the bakery, and I had a couple of party pals bring something to add to the table.

It was a great success and I wasn’t exhausted at all during the party even though I was waddling around with a big belly.

If you want to host an easy elegant dessert party, here are my best tips + the details of the party design above.

Best tips for hosting a dessert party

  • Hold the party a little later than usual so guests have time to eat dinner beforehand.
  • Make sure you tell them in the invitation that it’s dessert only. Add wording to the invitation like, “SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT“.
  • Offer a variety of flavors and textures for guests to choose from. Small portions are key so guests can taste a little bit of everything.
  • Offer a cheese plate and fruit to lighten things up and cleanse the palate between all that sugar.
  • Include a color coordinated signature cocktail as well as a dessert-style drink like easy eggnog punch or homemade hot chocolate.
  • Red wine and champagne are also great dessert pairings.

How to Decorate your Elegant Blue & White Holiday Dessert Table

  • I used the Christmas tree motif from the invitation to guide my design details. A couple of sparkly blue cone trees make a big impact without adding clutter to a full dessert table. I love using white as a base, but remember to spread the main color throughout the display to balance the overall look.
  • Ribbon and glittery ornaments dress up the apothecary jars. I used a large jar as a “punch bowl” filled with blue tinted punch. Blue Curacao is a great base to use when you need a blue cocktail.
  • The blue food labels from Urbanity Studios add pops of color where needed. Silver ornament holders are in keeping with our tree & ornament theme from the invitation.
  • Instead of serving cupcakes on the table, I elevated the elegance factor with mini bundt cakes drizzled with melted frosting {like I did here}. Sprinkled with white dragees I think these mini cakes look like snow covered mountain peaks!
  • White fudge Oreos get dressed up with blue decorator icing applied in a zigzag pattern.
  • Mini parfait cups are dressed up with silver sugar sprinkles. And white truffles sit on a bed of the same silver sugar set inside Asian spoons.
  • Favor boxes are wrapped with blue glitter ribbon and finished with a round sticker that coordinates with the other paper goods.
