DIY :: Modern Triangle Cupcake Toppers

make these modern graphic cupcake toppers for your next cool celebration

As cute as the graduation cap bottle toppers were, I think I got most ‘love’ for these modern triangle cupcake toppers from the graduation party I styled for Pear Tree Greetings.  I was inspired by the triangle graphic design of the invitation {seen in the frame above} and knew I wanted to repeat that somewhere in the design. I decided it could be a stylish way to add interest to the cupcakes on the dessert table.

I love how they turned out and how they add such a modern edgy look to the display. What makes them extra special is the 3-D effect they have. These are a quick project, in fact the most time consuming part is deciding how I was going to align each triangle together for the best look!

These can be made in all different colors for any number of party themes. They’re also suitable for young children’s celebrations as well as teens and adults.

Modern Triangle Cupcake Toppers

  • 1 pack gold foil stars {I got this set of 5 at Party City}
  • Black heavy duty scrapbook paper or card stock
  • Double sided adhesive foam circles
  • Toothpicks
  • Scissors

Cut the points off the stars to create small triangles.

Cut the scrapbook paper into small triangles. It’s easiest to cut a long strip first and then cut that into angles.

Attach the 2 triangles together in a random pattern, using the foam circles. To get more of a 3-D effect I cut the circle in half and stacked it for more thickness.

Attach a toothpick to the pack of the triangle topper using another adhesive circle or tape.

Place into cupcakes and serve.
