garden stake party favors

Hi Everybody! I’m Melissa from Lulu the Baker, and I’m thrilled to be a new contributor on Celebrations At Home. For my first post, I wanted to share a quick, easy party favor idea I used for a Strawberry Baby Shower I threw at the beginning of the summer.

Materials and Tools: 6″ wooden garden stakes; drill and 1/8″ drill bit; black ink pad; alphabet stamp set (or a “thank you” stamp); 1/8″ ribbon; small garden plants in small, biodegradable peat pots* or house plants in small terra cotta pots

Sources: 6″ stakes; peat pots; stamps, ink, and ribbon from Michael’s; plants from the local nursery

*I chose inexpensive peat pots for both my strawberry plants in June and the English lavender pictured above. That way, the entire pot can just go straight in the ground without any transplanting! If you want to use house plants in your party favors instead of garden plants, terra cotta pots or ceramic pots would be perfect!

About Melissa

Melissa has been baking and 'making' for as long as she can remember, and always had dreams of opening a catering business. Instead, she graduated from college with a degree in Biology and a teaching license, and taught high school science for 5 years before choosing to stay home with her 3 kids. She still spends hours each day in the kitchen baking up tasty treats, and when she’s not cooking, Melissa likes to host parties, sew, and write about her adventures in food, family, and farming at her blog, Lulu the Baker.

Cool DIY. This party favor is not only memorable, but eco-friendly too. Pretty economical considering the few pieces needed for this cool DIY party favor.
