A little while back I did a Trend Alert about confetti themed parties, with some cute ideas you could incorporate. About a month later I was chatting with my friend Abigail about her new party kit line and we decided it would be fun to collaborate on a party shoot together, and since “confetti” is all the rage, that should be the theme.

Seems like most of the confetti parties I’ve seen have been geared towards ladies night or holiday celebrations, so I decided I’d go in the ‘children’s party’ direction. In typical CAH fashion, everything is accessible and easy to create, and with the pre-printed party kits available at Paper and Cake….I don’t think I’ve ever styled a party so quickly before! For busy moms, it’s a Godsend!

Abigail sent me the kit which included invitations and envelopes, a “happy birthday” banner, favor bags, favor bag toppers, party circles with sticks {cupcake picks}, and coordinating paper straws. Wanna see how I put it all together Confetti birthday party?!

Get the Look for this Confetti Themed Birthday Party:

  • A quick trip to Target helped pull the party decorations together. They had napkins and horn blowers that were right in line with the confetti design Abigail created.
  • I stocked up on colorful plastic plates years ago {a great party tip} and use them whenever I need to add a rainbow of color. The circle shape and mixture of colors was just what I needed for this birthday celebration.
  • A bag of confetti from the party store makes a fun “table runner” when scattered down the middle of the table. It also makes a great addition to the envelopes when sending the invitations. Itย gives the recipient a peek at what’s to come and something to look forward to!
  • If you’re short on space or just want to keep it simple, use one party table to display food and flowers, as well as the place settings. For this party, the activity was decorating cookies with candy “confetti.” It’s a great way to carry out the theme.
  • The centerpiece of the table is the confetti cake! I bought this one from the bakery but you can make your own following the directions here if you like. Finish off the presentation by filling the cake stand with confetti sprinkles.
  • Everyone knows how to make cupcake circles, right! So just for fun I used the circles on graduated sizes of sticks and placed them on top of the cake instead.
  • Even the drinks get a colorful display. I poured different flavors of Gatoraid into flip top bottles and they help bring more color to the table. Gatoraid has less sugar than other ‘fruit’ punch for kids, too.
  • I hung the banner with colorful washi tape and it makes a nice backdrop to the table. It’s also a good background for photo opportunities with the children.
  • For party favors I filled the bags provided with colorful gumballs, and stapled the toppers on to the top. Place them on a table near the door to hand out as each child leaves.

Like I said, this was so simple and quick to put together and the kids loved it. Every birthday celebration doesn’t need to be over the top. I think kids have simple needs and they just want to have fun. The party kits + a few thoughtful styling tips can go a long way in creating a celebratory atmosphere.
