Classic Christmas With A Modern Twist

I’m excited to share the first Christmas party post with you this year! I love traditional red and green colors, and this inspiration shoot from Abby of Flair Designery uses them with dots, stripes, and chevron patterns to create a modern playful party design. She has created a dessert table and seated table full of ideas you can use: simple treats from the grocery store become a lovely centerpiece when placed in apothecary jars, wrapped “gifts” become perfect risers to add height to the table, and a letter box prominently placed is a great idea to collect those letters to Santa that can be mailed out later. Of course everything is embellished with the Holiday Mod set from Abby’s shop.

The seated table is just as beautifully set as the dessert table. One of my favorite items – the printable place mats – create a base for each place setting which includes wrapped bottles of red soda, the note papers to be filled out and dropped in the “mail” box above, and a DIY cupcake pedestal. The centerpiece is simple and elegant with urns full of greenery and a bouquet of white hydrangeas dotted with silver ornaments.

If you love traditional colors with a modern twist like I do, this is such a great party for you. Use these ideas and inspiration to host a tree trimming party or kids afternoon crafting party this month.

Happy party planning!

  1. I love this party! Can you please tell me where the DIY is for the cupcake pedestal?

    Thanks for any help!

  2. Chris, this is very inspirational indeed. I wish I really could make time and room space to set it all for Christmas. Looking at the ideas you bring and at the parties you actually plan, makes me happy and sad at the same time because I seem to never be on schedule to the celebration dates of the year and I feel like I really don’t have any relatives or friends who really value this kind of work so that I can invite to my home to share with us, but never mind, this is my PMS talking to me. I do need to improve my timing and because today is still November and because you once again so kindly raises the holiday spirit in us all I do promise I will be enthusiastic and dedicated to my Christmas decoration and table setting. Afterall, my baby boy, who is 4 and is following mom’s steps is the greatest fan of the decorations and parties I do. A big thank you! Beatriz

    1. Aww, Beatriz, don’t beat your self up over it. Do what you can do and what makes you happy. Sounds like your son is also a big inspiration – that’s great! Invite him to help when he can and make it a fun bonging experience. Happy Holidays!
